recommend stock for now and then come in to conti and by a Cobb Access port so you can tune your car with different maps. That way when you buy different pipes and what not you can tune the car properly. There are several ppl on this board with access ports including my wife. Best mod you can buy.

You would need to order one from Tim in parts. He is the manager. The price we sell at is the same price online. We do not charge for the shipping like you would have to pay if you ordered from Cobb themselves online. We do not mark up the cost either.

I'm here until 6pm and not here for lunch between 1:30-3pm

www.cobbtuning.com has a list of all their car accessories from power upgrades to a hat you can wear lol. However the accessport has a new version coming out with the old model discontinued. I can't even find the price online just yet but they say its suppose to be the same price as the old one.

I'm Phil. I sit in the corner in service behind the cashier. Tim leaves in the afternoon between 3-4 pm so you may want to come in before then.

IMO, you can do a lot better than stock.

On downpipes, any decent quality stainless bellmouth or divorced wastegate DP will be a significant power improvement. Cobb, Perrin, Invidia, Helix, all make nice parts. With an Accessport, you will gain more benefits from the aftermarket parts.

Similarly with exhausts. Aftermarket systems are better. They differ so much in loudness and appearance, you really need to do some research before choosing one.

If you can find something on AKIC for sale, it will typically cost less than 1/2, over buying outside and shipping it up.

PS- I still have a Cobb exhaust available on the buy/sell thread.

hey guys lets not forget that the sti HAS to have accessport first or boost creep will ruin more than your day. i'm all for exhaust upgrades but DO install the accessport first or the wastegate duty cycle will not be correct for the high flow exhaust. boost creep has ruined many engines...

also should throw this out there, some company's are selling custom tuned maps for the accessports. many have reported much better power with these "protuned" maps then the base maps cobb supplies. there is much more to say about this but i'll leave it to the people that are using them, such as ralph, hope, and kyle.

Don't worry Jerry, I steered him right. Access port and then mod so you can use the access port to tune the car. Your teachings are staying with us lol.

Hows school down there?

Like Jerry says lots of companies out there doing maps.

I personally use PDX for maps and haven't had any problems. They are also willing to adjust the maps as you ad mods.

I used the stock Cobb maps at first and then purchased the PDX maps ($150.00). The PDX maps were significantly stronger and they upraded my maps when I added my mods at no additional cost.

I believe AKLGT uses TDC maps and I know she is happy with those as well.

I have had awsome experience with my PDX maps. They will do alot of tweaking after the initial product with logging you send them and additional bolt ons you get. I just need a job and a laptop.

school's great, i'm down to only three more classes, (5 days total) and i'll have every subaru license. i was looking on the training website and i have one ase license, (advanced engine performance that i got in 6/03) that only 65 subaru dealer techs have, thats all across the us....

best part of training this time is we really went into depth about turbos. i understand them twice as well now, easier to set noobs straight...

Get AP, cobb catless dp and just find a cat back that is consistent 3 in all the way back. Cobb is mostly the way to go for most parts.
