whenever it's good. Alyeska has been making lots of snow. they're making it up around chair 4 also. it hasn't snowed lately, but, there's a small layer of man-made snow on my car every morning. The 'good stuff' will come in late december. depending on what, and when the mountain opens we'll arrange something.

Which reminds me i need to get my stuff out of storage. heh. i blew my knee out in janurary of last season, so i don't shred as much as I used too, and i've lost some incentive to go. plus i absolutely hate alyeska (not the mountain, the resort). but, i hate hiking too.

so yeah, soon, i hope.

Just tuned my board yesterday, been itching to go riding ever since the first snow fell. I heard that Alyeska was opening this weekend, Altho it was thru the grape vine, so I really have no idea.

I haven't heard anything about alyeska opening yet--Just looked at the website (who'd a thunk, information would be there!) and it says "opening Nov 18th." So, next Saturday. I believe it's going to be a mid-mountain opening, and if they get enough snow then the 'top' will open.

There was about 4-6" of snow on the ground this morning when I left for work, and crystal clear skys. heh.

As for new bindings, just make sure to take your boots and put them inside and get all the straps to line up. there's nothing worse then going to ride your new set-up and when you get there you find out that your straps won't fit around your boot, or they are too big and you can't get them tight enough.

Once you get the general fit better, put your foot in the boot and tie it up like you are going snowboarding right at that moment, then adjust the straps as needed. take some extra tools with you (always) when you ride.

this goes for everyone, check all your straps, screws, mounting hardware everytime before you go ride.

I don't mean to preach or anything, but, I was the manager of a snowboard shop for 3 years, and I happened to work there for a total of 8, so, just maybe, I know what I'm talking about.

Now would be a good time to get your snowboard/ski's waxed if you haven't already. They dry out during the summer months. unless it's a new snowboard, they come factory waxed, but, if you're like me you want to wax your board as much as possible (everytime you ride). If you want to know when to wax your board, one way to tell is that the bottom will look like it has "hairs", it's a 'dried out' look. Or, when your snowboard goes real slow or sticks(might just be the snow though). and I use all temp wax. It's the easiest and cheapest. You can get all technical and get the cold, or warm, or the luke-warm-skywalker-wax, but it's excessive unless you're racing in the Olympics or something. Because the tempurature it is outside, might now be how the snow is. Sometimes snow is thick and warm which makes it sticky, sometimes it's thin and light, other times it's mashpatatoes. all temp makes things a lot easier, especially when the tempuratures change from ball-freezingly-cold to swamp-ass-warm throughout the day.

opening day is not fun if the most of the mountain is closed! went last year and it was horrible! long lift line and everyone on the same trail! i'd wait til end of nov or into dec before going in a group...anyone know if hilltop is making snow or when they're opening...it's an ok place to go right after work to get the legs used to riding again....

depends on the board...a lot of boards these days come pre tuned and waxed from the factory, so all you have to do is take it out of the package and go ride.....Minimaul can also vouch for that as him and i both used to work for Boarderline :P he was my manager haha
