Sacramento Auto Show pics (11/03/06, show runs until 11/12)

Went to the sac auto show today... Usually its rather crappy, since its just cars from dealerships, but this year they went ALL out and I was glad to see that

Some of the new things they included:

Toyota off-road adventure (drive toyota 4x4 trucks over an off-road section for free, I drove an FJ, great fun)
Hyundai ride and drive (Short auto-x like course, closed when I was there)
Classic cars, including cars from the early 1900's and recent muscle cars and hot rods too...
Motorcycles, mostly Harleys though
Several race cars from various race series: Nascar, Drag, even the WRC Impreza!
Interesting odd-vehicles
8 more buildings than before

So anyway, screw typing, here are some pics:

Mmm Spyker C8. This is the first time I noticed the WRC car no longer has a manual shift mode. I should have realized when Petter broke the paddles, he wasn't using a manual shifter :E

No, its techinically on the autoshow circuit. Although previous years felt like they were just dealer-run events, sans salesmen...

Most of the cars come from the dealerships, but there are a few specially brought in with displays and such as you can see. The classic cars/etc. stuff was all new for this year, some of it a prelude to the Autorama show which is actually bigger than this one but only for hot rods/classic cars.

omg.... i just found out about this today... having gone to the prior autorama, i was hesistant to go, but the freaking wrc subaru and f430?? im going after lunch.

oo icic... it's part of NASIAS [sp?]? I thought the autoshows were LA, Chicago, Detroit, NY...

Its one of the "sub" cadigories, the ones that hit the smaller cities. There arent any "debut" cars or anything, but its the same people who organize/attend the larger events.

No one has swapped that i-VTEC turbo into anything yet that I know of... the biggest problem is that the engine will only bolt-up to the auto trans that the RDX shares with the MDX and RL. The mating flange is hella huge and will require one massive adapter plate! Even then, the engine makes more torque than most any current Honda/Acura stick trans can handle, except maybe the monsterous 6-speed used in the TL.

Well the cars that we put there were specially shipped to us a couple weeks before hand, technically they are the dealers cars but SOA knew about it before and and made sure the "good" model cars would be there (IE spec-b, STI Limited, etc.) but the manufacturers ALSO bring out their own cars, like that WRC Impreza, or some of the cars from other brands that are touring the auto-show circuit right now (new tundra, new altima, etc.)

Go to honda-tech, go to the F/I forum, and see the numbers honda manual trans can handle. 500+ whp with just a clutch upgrade and better axles...... honda manuals can handle power well.

i just went today!! well... sunday actually and i must say, i was really impressed. lots of displays!! the toyota test track was AWESOME!!
