Updating stock ROM

I know this is a noob questions (I just got my cable) but I didn't find anything doing a search. I pulled the ROM from my 04 WRX and it is out of date (A4TF510F). To update it I just need to use ECUFlash and upload the A4TF520F ROM, correct? No tweaking or changes need to be made based on my particular car?

No tweaking needed, but you could just flash the newest Stage 1 map, it should be based on the newer version anyway.

I'm tempted to do that but I thought I would do some logging with the OEM map. Then maybe flash to the stage 1 after some more research. I've been looking over the stage 1 map and the boost and wastegate map values seem really aggressive compared to the stock map.

I would log the stock car first. Get used to what the numbers look like stock. review them and see if you can identify areas where improvement could be made. Flash to stage I and see how things look then. This way you get the performance and you learn along the way.
