Default Jazzy Board install

As some of you may know, I recently purchased a Jazzy iPod Pro kit. I've also gathered together a few tidbits from other members. For one, harnesses purchased from metra and scoshe do not include the illumination wire, that allows your headunit to dim with the dash lights. I wanted this to appear as stock as possible, so I contacted svx,dc who was able to get me the missing parts. I also managed to track down a donor ashtray from Audio Integrations. When they shipped it to me, they even threw in a couple of free pieces of ABS that really allowed me to complete this project. They were very helpful, and I plan to do as much business with them in the future as I possibly can.

On too the project:

Most of the goodies.

Forward and Reverse harness. This is the right way to tap into the stock wiring.

The donor ashtray......

And the ashtray 2.5 hours later. Bakelite sucks ass, and having no power tools sucks greater ass. My arm hurt for days from clenching that slippery bastid.

The iPod remote.

The guts....the two ends need to be seperated by about 4 foot of wire. Joy.

That's what you think it is. I had to get creative. This wasn't quite how it turned out in the end. The cap on the right is now the entirety of the plug cover.

Thanks for sending me two pieces, as I cocked up the first one. I made it too small.

I bet you can't spot my ****up. Neither did I. But more on that later.

The ipod remote control, because the ipod is stashed......

here.

I'm fairly proud of how this came out, save for two issues.
  1. I ****ed up the consol finish right next too the ashtray by not paying enough attention when I was trying to get the ground off the headunit brackes. Now it's a little scrached up.
  2. I had convereted the headphone ouput to be used as an input for not iPod sources. But that mistake I was refering too earleir? Yeah. I used too much glue making sure the wires wouldn't move and now the plug wont go far enough into the plug to make a complete connection. only the right channel gets a complete circuit if I use it as an input.

But really, I'm quite satisfied with the overal outcome. Later plans include new door speakers, then RamMatt, then amps (and LOCs) and eventually amps and a sub.

Sweet job. OEM integration at it's finest (at least I'm assuming it's stock as you state LOCs later). How's the SQ with the stock deck and iPod? Love the socks btw haha.

Sounds as good as CD's. The only catch is the iPod will play until you hit pause even after the car is off. You can't hear it or anything, but I know it's happening. I've got a relay in there so it doesn't drain the car battery, only the ipod battery.

Really, I can't stress enough how great a product Jazzy has put together here. It about the best you can do without buying a new deck.

Keeps the feet warm and comfy. easily mobile...just a pain in the driveway when you step on stones...I know from experience haha.

Have you thought about running a 3sixty.2?

That working in socks is a plus.... but I did have to chase after my cat carrying my harness at one point in time.

The 3sixty.2 looks pretty good, but I think is more money than I want to spend. I eventually plan on getting a Double DIN with nav, bluetooth, ipod, etc. But I can't afford it for now.

Damn cats. Did yours try to play with you during soldering? My one cat will ignore me for weeks on end until I have to solder...then the bastitch is all in my face.

I was afraid someone would ask. It's kind of embarrassing. But I'd put it in the 150 dollar range if you cut out some of the superfluous parts.

$100 Jazzy iPod Pro kit
$20 Forward and reverse harness
$15 remote
$15 Misc

But I also got a spare ashtray, installed a relay, and farted around with other things that didn't work out.

Anyone who has done a project like this knows it ends up costing more than it should.

Hey, ya. Here you go wasting time with something else helpful instead Any progress made on that yet at all? Again, no hurry, just curious.

That ipod remote, is currently broken. just get a wireless RF ipod remote, and save yourself the hassle.
