Default How do you take care of the engine?

Besides from constant oil change (I do it every at 3,000km)??

It's a legit question. For example, if you look into the back of the User Manual for the car, you have Subaru's maintenance schedule, which is a good starting point, but what kind of items would peolpe here recommend over that. On other parts of the board, I have heard the following:

- oil/filter every 3000 Mi (use syntheric after break-in)
- Tranny and Diff fluid every year (use synthetic)
- Clean filter every 3-6 Months (for washable)

What else?

- PCV?
- Fuel Filter?


What other maintenance items should be performed more frequently that stated in the manual? (which was written by someone who wants you to buy another car
)

I would also change the coolant and check the conditions of the belts yearly.

I see nothing wrong with simply following Subaru's recommendations. But if you're paranoid, you can reduce the intervals by half. Here's the recommendations for the 2002 Impreza:
