Default Edmunds.com Comparison Test: 2006 Minivans

Edmunds.com Comparison Test: 2006 Minivans

Video Review @ Link:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=117437

Cliff Notes: click Link for full read
Quote:
First Place: 2006 Honda Odyssey

What Works:
Impressive blend of practicality, attention to detail and a precise driving experience.

What Needs Work:
Its invisible minivan shape conceals what is an astonishing vehicle; needs a telescoping wheel; a few odd noises.

Bottom Line:
Brimming with clever touches, the eminently comfortable and polished Odyssey is the alpha dog of minivans

Second Place: 2006 Kia Sedona EX

What Works:
Affordability without compromising feature content; the reassurance of a strong warranty.

What Needs Work:
Schizo climate control; execution of details trails the front-runners.

Bottom Line:
More than just a blue-light special, the Sedona now runs with the big dogs of the minivan world.

Third Place: 2006 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD Limited

What Works:
Loads of features and practicality, a bump-smothering ride.

What Needs Work:
Steep price tag, dynamically uninspired.

Bottom Line:
Still a standout but losing ground to more accomplished and less expensive rivals.

Fourth Place: 2007 Nissan Quest 3.5 SE

What Works:
Spacious interior, unique style inside and out, pleasing to steer.

What Needs Work:
Love-it-or-hate-it styling, cramped cargo area, hefty price.

Bottom Line:
Trying to carve out a unique identity, the Quest mostly hits, but a few misses are deadly in this competition. Depending on your priorities, it could be just the right choice.

Fifth Place: 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

What Works:
In-floor storage provides unmatched cargo capacity; no rattles or squeaks; styling has worn well despite its age.

What Needs Work:
Small rear cargo area; wallowy ride; weak brakes; outclassed powertrain.

Bottom Line:
Drives like the 10-year-old minivan that it is.

If anything were to replace my WRX wagon, it'd be a Toyota Sienna. I don't have kids or need the room or anything, I just like minivans.

i recently got to drive the previous-gen odyssey...what a fun minivan to drive. very decent power, tons of room...everything just worked right. ive driven previous and current gen caravans and a previous gen sienna...no contest. its easy to see why the previous one was miles ahead of the competition, and the new one just improves on that.

Wife has a 2006 Odyssey. Best minivan we tested and best value for what you get if you don't get the touring model. She got whatever was one step down, EX-L or something. Next closest was the Sienna.
