It's easy to see the Audi influences.

The pedal design is ugly and the dead pedal looks like it was made for Flinstone feet.

i really like the new passat and an R model is definitely welcome. I'd be interested to see what kind of performance it has. that interior looks like a disco ball exploded and stuck only on select parts of the dash and center console.

The patterned aluminum trim doesn't look so good, but everything else is pretty nice.

1. Ugliest dash snice the 1978 Trans-am. Nice prism stickers. Rokken with Dokken.
2. Frumpy, frumpy, frumpy. Not Sporty. 3. Spend a little more $ and get an Audi. Doesn't even have to be an S4. 4. Better yet.....Legacy. Done deal. If Audi has the Knurdels to bring this silly ugly thing, then FHI needs to get an STI wagon, Legacy, and Fozzy over here STAT. |

Ya, get that Aluminum out of there. Just a brushed aluminum or something a bit more subtle would do the trick. The rest of the interior is good. A wagon with a proper transmission would be a nice car.

Looks horrible! Apparently trying they're trying to tighten the gap with the new A4 way too much ... the front bumper and air splitters and lower fascia is very A4ish .... but uglier

I like the interior. I guess they are trying to invoke the Veyron with the use of knurled aluminum.
My biggest problem with the Volksmobiles isn't the interior, its the Haldex system. There's a reason why Audis don't use it and are considered to be the 'high performance' division of VAG. Haldex is great for safety, not so good for really high performance. BTW, does anyone know what kind of HP this thing is going to have? If Subaru brings over a Legacy or Forester STI, it's sure to be both cheaper and faster than the Passat. |

I don't care for the aluminum foil interior, but to each his own.
Audi's used a Haldex system on the TT Quattro, iirc. |

Don't confuse "quattro" the marketing term, with TorSen, which is what you mean. Audi calls their Haldex system's quattro, too.
The real TorSen systems work very well, I agree. After looking at the photos a bit more, I really do like the lines of the wagon but the rear of the sedan looks a bit too much like a Chevy Impala. In any event, I'd be hard pressed not to spend a bit more for an Audi if I wanted a German car which wasn't a Porsche. |
