so i know i already did this post once, but that was when my option was a wrx or a base mustang. now i would be able to get a new gt convertible, which makes it a little harder to decide. if anyone knows some pros and cons about the gt, please feel free to let me know.

being a vert, you will be just as fast in the WRX. The rest I told you about in the email.
Good luck! |

Do you *really* need to re-hash this again? I mean sheesh. So it would be a faster Mustang convertible. Hey, that could be a lot of fun. So could a WRX. I refuse to vote either way; this is a decision that YOU have to make.
It sounds like you want someone to make the decision for you, given your wishy-washyness. |

I think that just made your decision a little tougher, before when it was a base mustang it should have been simple. I'd still probably choose the wrx though. But that's just me. The pros and cons are pretty much the same as before, except now the mustang gt is a little faster and a little nicer (than the base mustang).

A little faster and a little nicer, but still just a Ford...
Chalk this thread up with "what mod should I get first", "should I get the WRX or wait for the STi", and the people's favorite, "Teh Love Wagon". Ugh. lb www.trancelab.com |

Convertable is a "con" in my book, the loss of structural rigidity. Anyway, only you can answer this question anyway.

Ford Mustang Convertible GT: it’s a Ford and everybody has one, there is no more Camaro next year so even more people will get Mustangs

Get them both if you can. When its sunny drive the 'Stang, but when it rains or snows let the fun begin with the WRX.

I would still choose the WRX but here's the pros on the mustang.
302 ft-lbs of torque More aftermarket companies (cheaper parts) The motor and transmission can handle 400+ horse (if you ever decide to get a supercharger) with regular mantance, it will be very reliable. (I had over 160,000 on mine with no major problems) The motor will only be turning 2,000 RPM on the freeway. -- They're usually pretty quiet on the freeway, but I've never ridden in a convertible mustang. Chicks dig convertibles. (I hate convertibles) The Leather seats are pretty comfertable. Go with The WRX. $4,000 cheaper, AWD, better handling, turbo... Free SCCA membership. I've driven them both, and the WRX is way more fun to drive. But I sometimes miss the low end torque. -Josh (a 23 year old redneck highschool kid ) |

Get the Mustang. The only reason Ihave a Subaru is because of the Amt of snow we get in the North East... I'd die for a convertable I could use most of the year.

I've owned a mustang convertible in the past - got rid of it 7 days ago. It's nice for long cruises but I like twisty roads, which is why I love the dodge/plymouth neon. It all depends on your driving style. If you enjoy taking turns and long windy roads, get the WRX. If you're all about fun-in-the-sun, cruise down the boulevard kind of drives, nothing beats a convertible.

Well I'm not sure if this will do anything for your decision making process, although I just traded my '97 Cobra for a WRX. The WRX IS a much more exciting car than a Mustang. Don't get me wrong, Mustangs can be fast, although it also depends on what you are wanting out of your new car. If you want reliability and practicality, go with the Subaru. If you want something that everybody has, and lower quality control standards, then get the pony. Also, you WILL pay more for the Mustang in every catagory. My Ins. dropped roughly $30 a month going to the WRX. Whatever you decide, good luck and enjoy your new ride!

i agree with ashleyneon!! it's really depending on ur driving style!!
WRX is not a car that u fix it to drag. if u like drag or do all those 0-400, please don take WRX. if u do, u will be disappoint on it. Give u a hint here, horse power doesn't mean anything. u need to know the weight of the car, the suspension, the engine size, or even it is a turbo charge car or a NA car. of course mustang is fast, as u said, it has 302 ft-lb torque, easy to get 400+ hp. but, let's take it to mountain and do all those fast turns. u will see what can all those hp do! again, it is all depending on what is ur driving style!! that is most important thing to u! by the way, as i know, there r over 10 companies that have mod parts for WRX^^ |

Whoaaa there. The mustang does not have 300lbs of torque. The stock GTs hit around 240-250 rwhp and 270-280 MAX rwtq. There is no way that you'll hit those numbers without quite a few boltons. |

mustangs have a load of torque. the 6-cat h-pipe really doesn't help performance and the stock headers aren't real good, a cat-back never hurts and neither do under drive pulleys. enough about that. It's all up to you!!! AWD kicks butt! turbos are really cool! I can't make your choice for you. Oh, and saying the stang doesn't have 300 lb-ft of torque is like saying the WRX doesn't have 227 horses. Engine power vs. wheel dyno... can you say 15% driveline loss, I can! But, whatever man it's all up to you. If you can, might I suggest a test drive. BTW my 88 5.0 has 170,000 miles on it with no major problems. Good luck choosing, I hope I may have made it harder for you! hahaha
