Default Meth on sti tmic vs. ebay timc?

I have an 06 wrx with VF39 swap, sti tmic, full 3inch. exhaust, walbro 255, and coolingmist meth injection using cobb street tuner. My question is, before I get tuned, would it be worth it to run an ebay tmic over an sti tmic? I know the ebay has better cooling capabilities but with the cooling of water injection is it worth it to switch? Also does the Ebay core flow much more than the sti tmic to make it worth while? I have sent my tuner an email to ask him also but wanted others input. Thanks.

It never hurts to go larger. I ran my stocker for 6 months, then I upgraded to an STi TMIC with my VF22 setup, now I run the $145 EBAY TMIC for almost a year and it is great. My car loves the additional air plus the Alky gives it just that much more oomph.
Go with the Ebay TMIC rather than the Sti, that way you can go larger turbo and not have to worry about getting rid of the STi TMIC.
A few months ago someone Dyno'd all three and did a comparrison and the Ebay beat out not only the stockers/ sti, but some of the $600+ TMIC's on the market.

Thanks for your input, I'm not upgrading the turbo any time soon but maybe once my stock clutch goes out. I guess I'm going to go with one of the Ebay cores before my tune, unless told otherwise from my tuner. Now I just need to decide which one. Thanks again.

I would save my money for a turbo or whatever if I was you. I just don't see the advantages of the larger top mount(a little more power maybe) being that great to outweigh the price of the upgrade or the fact that it will heatsoak more then the smaller intercooler.

peace

I'm not planning on going with a bigger turbo set up, the money just isn't there, and I can sell my sti tmic and buy an ebay core for less.

Go to Cobbs website, they have a list of their recommended AP tuners.

The tuner on the website (velocity factor) doesn't even protune (don't know why they're on the website) but they are a supplier. I also have AP with ST and I called to get tuned with street tuner and the tuner told me he had never tuned for meth before. Theres a tuner coming to Aerocomp on the 2nd of December. I'll PM you with info this week if you're interested.

Make sure whatever tuner you use has experience and is not just trying to school him/herself on your car. If they have not tuned a lot of WRX's successfully you would be better off doing it yourself. That way later on when you blow up, you will not feel so bad.
You should contact COBB and let them know to take the tuner off their tuning list.
Be careful with your ride and good luck.

I would sell the STI TMIC for 300 and buy an Ebay one for 240. Use the 60 bucks towards tune.
