Default Swap using an 05 lgt motor...

i did a few searches and couldnt find anything so i figued id ask. Has anyone tried or put a 05 legacy gt turbo motor into any older legacy's?

I might be able to get my hands on one, but dont know if its still as straight foward (other the wiring) like the wrx motors or if it will work... anyone know?

what i meant was straight forward to those who have done a few wrx swaps and even more straight forward to those who do swaps for a living like (ECS) (Area1320) thats all..

never said i personally thought it was straight foward, geesh...

I've heard that the 05+ have a lot more complicated electronics, which would make it more complicated. (IE...i believe you can't swap the cluster without a dealer ecu reflash.) Things like this would prove to be a PITA in a swap.

bb98- no harm done, its all good..

i figured the electronics would be a lot different. I just didnt know if swapping a dash would help fix some of those problems, but then again i dont know if a newer dash would fit either... i'll prob. call ECS on monday see what they have to say... but im guess the difference in electrical is going to be a no go from some of the reading i've done...

Also doubt the dash will fit. Stick to wrx/sti engines, they're pretty well documented.

What fibuz said is true (about the cluster) however those clusters are really nice, so I wouldn't have a problem with swapping that in too

Aren’t we talking about a long-block motor only? What does dash complexity, 05’ immobilizer ECU, and other electronics have to do with it? Just cuz you install a suby 2.5l turbo motor which came out of a LGT, doesn’t mean you have to run all LGT wiring/ecu.

You should be able to run any FI harness and matching ECU with that motor, or portions of said harness and standalone EM. Plenty of folks run AVCS equipped heads and motor wiring with WRX harnesses, etc. It can be done…

For example, I run and 02' wrx chassis harness + ECU, on a 06' STi 2.5l shortblock, with 05' wrx heads...
