Subaru Stars Pros and Cons of a Blow Off Valve

I'm looking into putting a blow off valve in my 04 WRX. Is there really any benefits in putting a BOV in? A friend told me that it could lead to Premature Engine Failure? Is that true? Can someone help me out and let me know what the pros and cons are?

lol I love when people start asking about bovs. Dude bovs are not needed for s wrx unless you have a mass amount of psi. Bovs only become problems such as richness between shifts and idle problems. If your only going to put that bov on for the sound then think again.

Well the BOV gives the STI a totally gnarly awesome sound and at least eleventy billion more hp at the crank but only like 72 more whp. On a wrx its even more and is so loud it makes deaf babies cry. I would get 2 or 3.

my god.... all you bov freaks go shoot yourselves. take 2 minutes out of your damn lives to scroll through some threads and/or search and you'll find all of your damn answers.

Simply:

Atmospheric= BAD; very bad! It kills little puppies and priests touch little boys; also makes the car run like ass
Recirculated = GOOD; makes the car NOT run like ass

Unless you're making a lot of power (spending money on performance parts; not some BS sound effects), you don't need a BOV. Buy a damn intake and there you go! instant louder BPV that sounds somewhat like a BOV and you hear the turbo sucking like a true champ.

In conclusion; each time you make a BOV thread, you kill 100 puppies. Feel happy now?

DIE!!!!! lol

Cons:

Run pig rich, and blow chunks of cats into turbo.
Have poor idle, and poor off idle acceleration.
Be almost unable to tune properly.
Attract police attention.

Pros:

14 year old boys think your COOL!
