Default Authorized Passport dealers

Anyone know if there are any authorized Passport dealers in the Houston area? I'm having a problem with mine and I'd rather not send it back if some place here can fix it.

damn srt-4 did a dry-by EMP bombing and knocked out the electronics in my car

I got my pic taken at CVS, the chick who does the passport photos was short, so I had to stoop, and I look like I am on drugs in the picture.

I am just going to mail it all in with my old passport. I don't need it immediately, and if there is a need before they send it out, I can get a temp.

Let me know if they can help you out! Mine has said "needs calibration" for a couple years ago, and I have been too lazy to send it in. It doesn't fix itself by unplugging it and plugging it back in like other people have said.

Hey guys, do what I did. Mine was giving me the "service required" thing that ya'lls is doing. So instead of messing with it, I just sold it and then took that money and bought something better. Actually the exact same thing - in Bel form - the RX65 pro. Which is exactly the same as the 8500, without the problems. Even uses the same smartcord so you don't have to change your hardwiring.

Buy it from cardomain, since they are a authorized dealer, but first get them to pricematch THIS COMPANY. (they will). You have to e-mail them that link and they will e-mail you back and approve you and give you a code to put in when you order it.

So you just got yourself a new better detector for 212 bucks (they 105% pricematch it). Not a bad deal. I'm happy with mine.

Here is the link to Cardomain where you will buy it from after the pricematch approval. I believe they have free shipping too. HERE

(and btw, Bel and Escort are now the same company, just different names, for those who don't know)

(oh, and I will give credit where it's due - Offset suggested this to me.)

Wow, really cool selling a mostly non-working radar detector to some sucker. Mine works NONE of the time, so that definitely wouldn't work.

Cat mine doesn't turn on at ALL. I just called Escort back and they are going to let me send it in for repairs. They said it should take 2 weeks, but I'll be home for the holidays most of the time anyways.

Also, I asked them about getting it repaired at an authorized dealer, and they didn't think it was a good idea. They said authorized seller doesn't equal authorized repair shop, so that's just a heads up if you're still in your warranty period.

Is there a flat fee or do they let you know how much it will cost after they get it? What's their # (I are lazy) and I might call and ask about sending mine in! And oh, mine is no longer under warranty, considering it's been broken about 2 years!

If the fees are outside the "normal" range of repairs, then they'll give you a quote. I'm guessing that means "If it's your fault and we figure that out, then you gotta pay sucker!"

I think their customer service leaves a lot to be desired...but you might find that out when you call.

I paid $196 for a RX65 with the latest firmware version. Don't waste your money on an STi driver, the RX65 is the same thing w/o the magnesium case.

geez guys, chill out...when I sold mine, it only messed up when it was 100 degrees outside and sitting in the sun and overheated. The dude I sold it to lives in Vermont and he said it works perfectly for him. Besides, I did tell him what it was doing and he didn't think it would be an issue. And I sold it to him for dirt cheap too. Relax!

Just followed HellonWRX's price matching advice and got mine at 212.95 price matched in a day and with free shipping.

Oh to be wary of how many radar traps I will now be hearing.

On the bright side I get a project to hardwire the bish.

Does anyone know if the Houston cops use laser? A coworked told me today that he saw some cops on the Westpark Tollway aiming their guns with sights at cars, which I'm 99% sure are laser guns.
