Wow...I know you are new and all, but did you seriously think that the Turbo list thread was the best place to ask your questions?

Default Turbos and other cool stuff

Hi guys, nice list of turbo's.I am currently testing efr Borg Warner turbos. They have made all other turbo's obsolete unless you are just upgrading from the factory turbo. The efr needs a custom twin scroll equal length header but it has almost zero back pressure while under boost it flows so well, this is exhaust turbine to compressor wheel pressure ratio. allowing the use of a more radical cam as the twin scroll reduces reversion.Reversion is more prevalent on non-twin scroll turbos forcing the camshafts or shaft to have a wider lobe separation and in short less overlap.Too much boost and your air speed goes over 500 ft per second closing in on sonic stall, this has been confirmed on the flow bench ,that`s where the mixture in the runners and chamber slow down and efficiency decreases.some things to look at that I am currently studying before I build my 2.2 turbo motor for my impreza.just putting it out there, research research research, all I can say,as far as my credentials go,licensed auto tech since 1989,road racer since 1996,shop owner since 1993,and I am still going to school everyday!

fullrace.com has a tremendous write up on the efr turbo

squish band
short turn velocity
port flow efficiency
146 cfm per square inch

Default Help...Turbo Identification

I need some help identifying this turbo. I was on the WRX motor that I swapped into my 2002. The markings on the compressor are 5679. I have the oem one on now and have no use for this one. I need to identify it then put it up for sale. Any help would be great.

definitely wouldnt mind going rotated with an EFR turbo. they're almost too good to be true. quick spool with lots of top end. its everybody's dream. too bad it costs the big bucks...

He's giving you the hot side only and you want to mate that to the stock compressor?

Depends on the compressor side configuration where it meets the intercooler. The legacy went to a flanged compressor that bolts to the intercooler around your year. If your turbo you blew is a vf40 then it probably won't work. The pre 08 wrx turbos are meant to have a hose to intercooler connection and not a bolted flange. If that td05 h is from an 08+ wrx it might fit but stock the 08+wrx was a vf52.

specifying which wrx would get you your answer by now. 08+ wrx will fit but you don't want 08 WRX since it's smaller than your Turbo. 09+ are bigger with **** load of torque down low, either way you have to tune.

Question

I noticed your list doesn't cover any of subaru's OEM turbos, and I would like more info on them.

http://www.turbomaster.info/eng/appl.../subaru/TODOS/

The turbo in question is found on the 2012 Forrester and Legacy, as shown in the above link. The model number listed is MGT2259S.

I would like to know the following:

Both for turbine and compressor:
A/R
Inducer size
Exducer size
Inlet and outlet sizes

Turbine inlet/outlet flange types

If anyone can point me to where to find this info, or if you have one you can measure that would be great. I've tried Garrett's references to the GT2259 but I'm trying to figure out the differences between their aftermarket catalog turbo and this Subaru OEM "M" variant of the 2259.

The reason for my question is I have been told the Subaru version of the 2259 has a larger compressor measurement and also has a twin scroll style turbine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
