The 2012 legacy and forester didnt come with the same turbo. The forester had a td04 and the legacy had a vf46.

The ihi vf series info is hard to find.

The 2012 legacy doesn't come with the vf46. It uses the vf54.

Looking at the VF39. The numbers of others who have them are in the 340ish AWHP. only rated to ~320awhp... thoughts?Dont wanna fork out 1400 ona turbo, plus supporting mods when I get the money to have to replace theturbo cause I was getting too much out of it via a tune. I know, I can dial things back with a tune, but if I'm gonnahave a tune I'm gonna want what feels "right" for me and the car, which may not be what something is "rated" at.

I can't give any turbo input per say I'm sure others will but others will also tell you to discuss these options with your tuner.

It doesn't make 340whp. It can't, it's to small. Think of it as a 280ish whp turbo on pump, 300ish on E85. If you are planning on dropping 1400 bucks on a turbo there are much better options out there. For instance, a used vf39 for 300 bucks. Otherwise look at 18-20g.

If you still have the 2.0 and plan on keeping, buy the 16gxtr and be happy with whatever it puts out.

I'm not sure if I will put a turbo on my '04, If I ever do, I may as well start looking early for something so I dont put the amount of money into it and not be happy with it. I'll probably stick with a stage 2, but we all know how it is, its never enough, until its too much power

Did the legacy 2014 come with a turbo. I don't think so right. I was close to buying one.

So, I bought a 08 WRX turbo. It is NOT a 19t, it is much smaller than a 19t.

A real 19t is 46 inducer/58 exducer.
2008 WRX is 40 inducer/ 56 exducer.

Thus the 08 WRX exducer housing diameter is the standard td04 size and will not even help you put on a 19t wheel. It still needs to be machined.

I thought I could drop a 19t housing onto one of these, and it is not the case. The 08 WRX turbo compressor wheel is much smaller than a 19t wheel.

This accounts for the disparity in power between people with stock 08 WRX turbos and those with real TD04 19t turbos. There is a big size difference.

This helped so much, but are all these turbos compatible with a 14' wrx?

Great info here now I have an 09 FXT I am torn between putting a TD05 16G or a VF52 on it with a new down pipe and exhaust over the summer. I ride a bike all summer so that is my car work time. I have been putting money aside most the winter for a project so inputs would be great this is winter and trip daily driver so I want most reliable but I also want it a lot of fun. I am upgrading to STI rear sway bar next weekend to help keep it under better control. Any advice would be great.
I keep cars forever so I want to have this stay fun for a long time

Greatest lesson I have learned on here (besides never getting personal with someone): Do your research. Just when you think you have decided, do more research.

My $.02, go for aftermarket 16G. VF52 will spool faster, but has its limits at high rpms; you do not want to disappoint yourself. Also, if you want reliable, you will be upgrading your fuel pump, injectors, IC hoses, and if you want to be awesome, an inlet. Cheers!
