Not to burst your bubble, but if it is a 3rd Gen you can spend to your hearts content, and you'll never come even close. I had a 3rd Gen RX-7 for 3 years. I still miss that car. Maybe one day I'll buy one with no motor and do a LS7 conversion. ![]() |

used coilovers for a wrx, if the stock suspension can be used on BD's, so can the coilovers most likely.

I guess if you put your money, research, and time into the tuning, anything is possible. If you see Hot Version dvds...Amuse S2k used to be the MAOU (devil) of touge...but Now it's the RE amemiya FD...I mean of course those cars are the ***** but it also depends on the tuner and also the driver. |

You can run Tein coilovers for the WRX on your GT, I did so for quite a while.
Bear in mind though, your range of adjustment at the front will be very small. Here is my 97 GT on Tein Flex: This is how much thread engagement I had on the lower brackets at that height: That was one of the reasons I sold them to a WRX owner, the other was that the stiff springs rates (559f/448r) on the Flex will really upset your ABS when braking on uneven surfaces, as the front wheels will tend to skip over any bumps (I believe the ABS on the BD/BG/BK series legacy is particularly touchy about this). |

No dampers for the WRX/2.5RS will not work on a 99LGT.

You're 100% incorrect (unless I'm misunderstanding you). WRX coilovers will mount up and the chassis weights are similar enough that they're an excellent option.
But what do I know, I've just run multiple different WRX setups for over 100k miles ![]() I'm currently on Flexes and while, like Dan, I wish I had more thread engagement in the fronts, it hasn't been a dealbreaker and I've been running the setup for fast road use for over 40k miles. The only issue you run into is the orientation of the front top hats (only an issue with camber plates). Swap the hats side to side (for WRX-specific hats) and you'll only have a ~10 degree misalignment, which just means you'll slightly adjust caster if you regularly use the full range of camber adjsutment on the hats. For the 95% that will set the top hats then get an alignment and never adjsut again, it's a non-issue. There's enough of a dearth of reliable information for 1ist and 2nd-gen owners on supesnion compatibility; please check your sources before spreading misinformation (especially in the magazine, as you have an opportunity to help a lot of people that can go awry if you're communicating limitations that aren't there.) Subarus are like Legos. Just get the right blocks for your application from the parts bin ![]() |

Well said sybir.
I agree that there isn't enough info out there for us early legacy owners, since they weren't 'popular'. |

Ok, is the 99 the same as the 97? Becuase I know that the 2000-2004 are not the same. The rears are totally different.... (off checking)
Ah, yes, 99 is the BD chassis. Then yes they will work. 2000 is different, my bad. I am running 2005 RS H&R coilovers on our 97 LGT. However, there are no camber plates on that kit but the 05 top hats bolt right up. See this month's issue for the write up. |

If you go to KYB's website, they list the part numbers for all the Subarus. They have the strut and topmount numbers in their parts catalog, and you can see which Subarus use the exact same part.
http://www.kyb.com/catalog/ And the 95-99 Legacy uses the same topmount as the 02-04 WRX. |
