Default New construction homeowners- how long does it take for your address to show up?

I'm moving into my new house in a new development, and I'm annoyed that my address does not exist according to mapquest, google maps etc. Other people have been in the development for a couple months and their address isn't up either. Basically, my street did not exist a couple months ago, so I'm wondering how long the lag will be until the maps are updated.

Its a little frustrating- I'm sure ordering Pizza will take an explanation, and delivering furniture, not to mention my household goods may be a challenge if the delivery drivers don't know where my address is... and how would they?

anyone gone through this process before?

I'll be in this boat next year, but I'm guessing fax a drawing of the directions to the delivery people for the appliances/furniture.

When I was younger, and my parents moved, I remember getting lots of free pizza cuz the the drivers couldn't find the place..

update: 2 years later, and my address STILL is not on maps. this, in a county with population over 1M people. I can't get newspapers, pizzas or taxi's to show up at my door properly. very frustrating

Since I now work for Navteq, I'm starting to know why it takes so long to get that data out there. Turns out most customers only get the data quarterly and sometimes it can take two quarters to get the data updated on our own, so you are talking about 3 quarters usually.

We're also making a big push to get people to use this:

NAVTEQ Map Reporter

so that we can actually get information from people actually using maps as to areas that are missing or incorrect. There are only so many people out there driving around in the mapping trucks mapping out new areas, this tool helps Navteq know where to look.

Took mine about six months to show up on Google, but the photo is still outdated -- in the house over a year and the satellite view shows it still under construction.

Our subdivision was built in '94. Google maps didn't know about our street until this year. Mapquest has had it since we moved in ('04).

My wife is visible in three different locations using streetview (actually 2 via streetview and one on sat).

I guess that's a definite benefit of living in a grid-plan city. The address always "exists" as long as the street exists. Mine's been there since I bought my house (it was finished last July). They haven't updated the imagery, though, so I still live in dirt according to Satellite View.

2 years until it showed up on GMaps, but I have heard it was on hard copy maps before that.
