Default NJ Inspection Catless

Hey guys I am in need of an NJ state inspection and wanted to know where everyone goes. I am located in central nj. The car has a catless TBE and catless DP. I don't mind spending some money to go private. It's an 02 WRX and has a stage 2 pro tune from Precision Tuning so all of the systems come back as ready on the OBD II scan. Any input is welcome. If you have a private shop and could pm me that would be great.

Thanks!

Anyone else in nj that can do inspections? I'm in the same boat. I tried contacting ferrets, but no answer.

I went to the one in Brick/Lakewood off Route 70 and I'm catless and passed.

I drove right through the Wayne station completely catless with no problems. I think it depends on the inspector and you definitely can't have a CEL. The inspector popped the hood and looked at my whole exhaust and passed me anyway.

How long ago? I just went today and failed for only having one cat, not two (catted cobb downpipe) Sorry to throw off the thread but was curious

From what I have heard it really depends on the tech you get and how much of a pain that want to be on that particular day.
Many people say just go and see if you can pass, which is great if you pass but if you fail you are failed in the system for no cat and then you have to get a cat installed and go back with the documentation to prove it.
That is, unless you find a private shop to do it for you and you don't tell them that you previously failed.
Even a shop that will pass you with no cats will not likely pass you if you tell them that you failed before.

I have heard of people welding the stock cat heat shield where the stock cat would be. You can google that process and research the various results.

Good luck, it's a pain.

Yeah def.. The guy told me that started in December where they look up the specs of the car and if it says it should have two, they have to see two.. I wish I knew that cause I wouldn't of even went..

Please do not PM me asking to help with your catless inspection.

If you desperately need to pass inspection, throw on your stock cat and roll through inspection, then take it off right after if you so choose.

As a PSA, if you have failed inspetion for emissions once, your car is then flagged and no matter where you go they will specifically check for your catalytic convertors, (BOTH OF THEM) Aftermarket cats will not pass inspection in NJ.

In addition, if you end up being charged with removing or modifying your emission system in NJ, you can be fined up to $10,000.

Good luck, and stop PM'ing me.
