Default Sunroof opened on it's own

So i was drivng yesterday in -25 celcus weather and my sunroof opened all on it's own. Then the switch wouldn't work so i could close it... Lucky for me i was 2 minutes from my work and was able to stop in and use the manual close allen key fix but reguardless this is kinda BS...

question for you:
Has anyone else experianced this?

Should I bother taking it in for service?

I live in Canada BTW so it would be SOC

Car is:

Funny that you mention this - the EXACT same thing happened on my wife's outback this weekend. I took apart the switch, cleaned the contracts, made sure the spring loaded dealies moved smoothly, put it back together, and so far so good.

ive got a thought about this. perhaps there was moisture in the switch area, which froze the two points that control the opening of the roof. maybe when that happened it completed the circut and voiala. it opened on its own.

I think you should; you shouldn't have to deal with this beyond taking it to a dealer.

Nah! It's much easier to just put a contract on it, and clean up afterward.

If nothing else, the dealership might have a TSB about it, and you'll have it on your service record in case it gets worse.

I had something like that happen to a customer. turned out to be water had gotten under the seals of the sunroof and down to the switch. it froze there and when the car warmed up and melted it, it shorted out the switch and caused the roof to open.

So i took it in to the dealership.... They want to take another look at it... since i wasnt able to give the car for an entire day and had to go out of town in the afternoon they just disabled my sunroof for now and then they are going to take it all apart next week and track down the problem and fix it. So they know something is wrong they just don't know what...

On a side note - semi related - when i came in to pick up my car my service advisor said the mechanic wanted to play 20 questions with me....

Comments on the check up card included -

Big Screen in dash? - (My In Dash DVD)
Guages on A- Pillar -
Hardwired radar detector -
Car audio upgrades -

Does any of this tap into the sun roof wires?

 nope but thanx for trying....
