I currently have 98 Gt sedan green. I got the car in feb 05 with 206k miles on it from the apperance of it nothing was done to the car except oil change and putting gas into to it. The first thing i had to fix my fueling pipe had a hole in it. Than I changed oil and fuel filter. By Nov 05 had to replaced head gaskets. In Nov I also replaced spark plugs. Some where along the way I also changed bunch of small stuff like knock sensor, front sway bar links, got cold air into it, tinted the windows (green). In the Sep 06 blew front oil seal, and in October changed engine mounts and tranny mount still have to get new dog bone. Anyways the car is still pretty much stock with 265k, still runs well can top my 120mph speedometer at any time.
I wanted to know how many other Legacy's like this are still outhere, I mean there has got to be more cars with mileage slightly over a life expetancy?

a few people have hit 200k+ with their subbies (being that the EJ2xx engine has been used in every subaru built since 1995 IIRC), I'm not surprised.
Though you seem to have gotten one of the better ones that didn't blow it's headgasket more than once. |

I have seen a few very high mileage Legacys. Two were crazy high, one was 330K and the other was 520K... All are highway miles. As long as you take care of it, it should last.

I just picked up my 00 LGT....It has 216k on the clock...I bought it with a bad motor...But by the looks of it all appears to be stock which means..If it would have been better maintained it would have kept going Im sure.
These sons a guns are good for 200 and beyond for sure...Its beyond there that the lines get a lil fuzzy though.Be proud of her,and keep up that maintance...Im sure that engine will see 300k |

I think subarurabit bought his Legacy SS (turbo) with 180K and added an additional 200K miles (replacing struts, CV joints, timing belt, water pump and maybe a few oil seals, ...etc). While the Phase I EJ25 isn't one of the more reliable engines that Subaru has sold, these are very durable well made cars.
Hang on to it. |
