Default Log analyzer - check it out

Hey guys -

I spent a few hours over the weekend and cranked out a simple web based log analyzer. Feel free to check it out and give me feedback. I've only tried this with ECU Explorer logs, but I think it should work fine with any (comma seperated value) logs. If anyone has any other logs (deltadash, etc), fire them my way.

The only analysis it currently does is check for negative KC at positive boost pressure, calculation of max acceleration and maximum vehicle speed. But, it also allows you to plot any data you've captured.

If anyone has any ideas for other analysis that could be done on this data, or ways to make this better, post them up here.

Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to better calculate acceleration (I had issues with that since ECU read vehicle speed seems to lag behind real time), let me know.

http://www.waygate.net/plotter

Please send me any feedback you have. Enjoy!

-Justin

Teiva - send me your logfile so I can take a look. Also, make sure you have cookies enabled (without cookies, the server can't track your session, on which your datafile is stored).

Ewps, looks like the plots don't show up in Internet Explorer. Apparently, IE doesn't like dynamically adding images to an already loaded page. I'll fix it tonight.

Wow that's sweet. Can you make the bottom row RPM instead of time? Or give that option atleast.

I thought about that some, but am not sure it would be valuable since engine speed isn't natively a domain in these logs -- what I mean is that for a single RPM value, there will be multiple values for all other data. It's also not a linear scale, so the plot might come out pretty odd.

I suppose I could do a bar graph or something like that; I'll screw around with it over the weekend if I can find a bit of time and see if I can come up with something useful.

And for you IE guys, try it using firefox for the time being; I'll see about getting it working on IE tonight if I get a chance.

Hey guys -

I made a few updates this evening:

- Plots now work in Internet Explorer
- Timestamps in raw milliseconds and HH:mm:ss.xxx (xxx = milliseconds) are now supported
- Empty data values no longer cause plot to fail.

Also, if anyone can send me a streettuner log, I'll add support for that as well.

Hey, any chance you could post up an "example" button for those of us without a log file handy?

Sure thing. Here's an example file: http://www.waygate.net/13-10-2006_20h14m50s.csv

-8.0?

Looks cool though. I'll try to find a UTEC log and see what it does with it.

Heh, yeah I actually changed one of the entries in that log to make sure that the KC analysis works, the real value was positive.

Would you mind emailing me a UTEC log so I can check it out? [email protected].

Yep, planning on leaving it up indefinitely. I'll probably make changes to it from time to time.

I started the very very basics of something like this, but not web-based. HTTP does me no good when I am in a parking lot somewhere after datalogging I guess I will have to go through with my plans... or just buy DataLogLab.

Cool though.

I will send you a Hydra Nemsis 'Export to CSV' log file for testing.

In this case, my spreadsheet may be of use, if you have MS Excel of course.

It is over at Enginuity.org in this thread:

Cool, thanks airboy. I may do a non web based version of this at some point too.

I just added support for scatter plots -- you can now put whatever you want on the x-axis of the plot.

They're on my work laptop. I'll try to send it tomorrow.

It might be getting hung up on the header row. Also I don' have that many logs that are small enough. might consider bumping the file size limit.

Yeah, originally there was no limit; problem is with large file sizes the CPU on the server gets hammered pretty hard calculating the plots. You can pretty easily break a large file into multiples since these are just plain text. I will go ahead and bump the size limit to 500k though.

I am just subscribing for now. I will throw a ST log or 2 in there tomorrow. Also will this show where the fastest acceleration point was?
I am really interested to see where this project heads.

Good luck and happy tuning
