Ok, I know Imprezas recieved this extremely awesome safety feature in 02, But I cannot find any information regarding whether or not the Legacy recieved this safety feature pre 2002.
Any ideas? Thanks alot. ~Levi

I have no idea what you're talking about.
I will tell you that the Legacy gets better crash test ratings than the Impreza. |

I know exactly what you are talking about. Reinforced, multi-layer B pillar with solid steel inner bar. Saved my fiancee from some harm not long ago in her WRX. It might be present in the 2000+ legacies since they were updated before the imprezas (in 2002). If not, it is definately in the 2005+ imprezas.

I imagine the legacys have them. In fact, I thought most subaru's had them since late 90's (excepting the 2.5rs)? I remember a thread a while back with a picture of a 96 legacy wagon that was stripped apart. The poster said it was the fire depertment's training vehicle because it was so hard to cut it apart with the jaws of life.

Yeah, I found out later that day by doing some reading. It's true, about that pillars on the Legacy. Jaws of Life have issues with them.

yeah, 20/20 did some car safety story, and they showed this testing institute. in the background was a forester w ith the a and b pillars cut open. They showed the thick bar in it and stated that the institute helps keep fire depts informed of vehicle changes and where to cut with the jaws of life.
It was cool... On a side note, they also had an sti engine, just sitting on a stand next to all these different brands of cars. I wonder what they do with all that stuff when they are done with it?!? |
