Maybe a week or so.

If you are on solid food, it shouldn't be long.

Depends on the Surgery. When I had my knee rebuilt I didn't poop for 3 days after the surgery, but I most certainly had the urge. And even when I did, it wasn't what I was hoping for.

i was on my back in the hospital for two weeks with only 1 single tiny dookie a few days in. eating solid food 2x a day for most of it. even with stool softener, if you arent up and about the food in yo belly doesnt have much of a chance to get broken up. hello constipation.

if you are passing gas and can hear your stomach rumble no problems , when they dig around it kind of stuns your guts, if you are passing gas its a good sign , since you guts are stunned it may jsut take a little longer to get them going, the only danger here is if they got a piece of them stuck in you hernia sac and cut a piece off , but youd already be dying of peritonitis by now and not eating or farting, expect to poop in the next 24-28

I had heart surgery last April, and it took close to 3 days before I worked up a poop. I wouldn't worry unless you start to feel some discomfort, you know... in that area.

It may take awhile after hernia surgery. Could be a week before things return to normal. If your problem continues, Roto-Rooter gets excellent results.

I went 5 days in hospital without pooping, and was given an ultimatum - poop by the afternoon or get flushed by hand by a hawt nurse.

Despite the erotic connotations, I pooped.

I was in the hospital and went the same amount of time without pooing, I'm not sure exactly how long because the I was so doped up.

When I did poop, it was in a bedpan because I was still hooked up to everything, and I don't think I'd like to ever repeat having to do that. It made me feel really strange.

I had an emergency appendectomy on Sunday, and thing aren't moving. I feel stuff moving down there and I do pass gas, but no doo doo yet.

I have to take mineral oil, which tastes like crap. Any other suggestions as to what I can take?
