Thumbs down Mastro Subaru

Went in for service today and I am completely unhappy. I had the following checked out:

1. Rear window and side skirt seal replaced. OK

2. AC vent replaced. OK

3. Sulphur smell from exhaust--**Service department says it is the aftermarket exhaust causing the problem. This is not the case, I had this smell with the stock exhaust. Computer says car is fine. THUMBS DOWN

4. Both windows (2 door) rattle horribly when doors are closed. Tech says there is no problem and charges $40 worth of labor. This is the stinker. What a load of crap. Not only could I have fixed this myself, but the rattle is worse than when I brought the car in. Very dissappointed.

5. Steering clunk when turning left or right over rough road. Tech could not duplicate problem. More BS, this is the 3rd time the car has been in for this.

What a bunch of crap. I think the techs should actually look at the car instead reading what the computer tells them. What ever happened to good old fashioned work. I'm going to Orlando for my next service.

Robmat sorry about your dissappointment with Mastro's service. All I can suggest is to contact Pete Mastro, he is usually very willing to help out or at least explain the "what's" & "why's" of what may have happened.

Couple things to note:
The steering clunk is normal, all 3 Subaru's (2 Impreza's & 1 Legacy) I've owned have done it. It has something to do with the configuration of the steering linkage or something. It's been posted on here in the past.

Why did they charge you $40 labor for the window clunking if they didn't do anything? Definitly call Pete & get the scoop.

Sulpher smelling exhaust is not normal, it can signal a catalytic converter problem, or a rich/lean problem. What year is your car? Have you had the O2 sensor replaced (there is a recall for MY2000 Subaru's about this).

Check your PM's

Question

I 2nd what Opie said, talk to Pete.

I was worried that would get the shaft on the decel noise since it's not easy to replicate the noise in full force, but to my happy suprise they are nothing but willing to help. Much better service than any of my Honda/Acura service visits.

Thumbs up

Things have since changed, I just haven't had the chance to post. I spoke with John and not only was the repair done correctly this time, I received a full refund. I will be making a new post and sending Mastro a thank you letter. He was very professional and curteous. I'm very happy.

Go to Reeves Imports in Tampa. They are a great dealership to work with.

Robmat,
Sorry to hear about the trouble you were having.
I'm glad to hear John straightened out your concerns. Let me know if there is anything further I can do.

Best Regards,

Reeves is a very good dealership, I agree. Stay warm up there in Clemson.
