Default Cell phone service

I've been with t-mobile for awhile and am not that impressed. Just wondering what people use and what companies you hate and love before I get into another contract. I spend 95% of my time in the Tempe/Scottsdale area so coverage on the outskirts doesn't mean much to me.

I had Nextel for years it works perfect out here in AZ because no one really has it so I had full service all the time time in and out of buildings, but it sucked back home in the Chicago area because everyone has them there so I switched to Cingular and it works perfect out here as well.

I had Cingular and had very spotty coverage throughout the valley on several phones (wasn't the phone's fault). Verizon is great - never had a problem.

Yeah as crappy as Verizon's phones are, their coverage is quite good.

Verizon seems to have the largest coverage area based on my observations.

i currently have verizon and tmobile, i prefer verizon overall but i like the tmobile phones better because they arent locked up feature wise like verizon, but if i had to choose which to travel across country i would choose the verizon phone

I live in the West Valley and have Cingular. No issues with the new generation of phones. Mine is even a wireless modem, for my PDA.

verizon works in the middle of no where, had a buddy installing satellites waaaaaay out there and my t-mobile had not chance. I had cingular for a while and it was "great" but not awesome. I really haven't had any problems with sprint, and I have a very, VERY old treo 300. I can't think of anyhwere I don't have reception, excep[t when we go shooting out by buckeye. But my budddy ahs sprint with a newer phone and still does.

Originally I dropped sprint right after they stopped doing hte candice bergen "clear as a pin drop" commercials. I was right around wehn cricket was coming into town and I guess they subleased cell towers and ****ed up everyones sprint service.

Well, i currently have T-mobile and im fine with them. I never get disconnected here in phoenix, sometimes it breaks up. But thats about it. I guess they decided to invest into more bandwith for their servers

I can't stand verizon. No matter what phone i used i would always get disconnected, even on a full bar. That happened so many times, i dumped them and now with tmobile.

I've had Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Cingular

They all suck but they all have their good points too

Verizon has had the best coverage but worst hardware... But they've been getting better phones
Sprint was great coverage but crappy customer service and more expensive rate plans
T-Mobile was good coverage in the city and has nice phones... good rates on their plans too.
Cingular has good coverage now (12 months ago it sucked) and has good phones... I only stick with them because of the discounts I have with them..

If you are looking for the best coverage, Verizon is your choice.
If you are looking for the most minutes for your $$$ while still having good coverage then T-Mobile is a good choice.

Other things to consider -- Traveling outside the US? Cingular and T-Mobile are GSM, so most of their phones will work outside the US... Sprint and Verizon are CDMA and won't work overseas.

I just bought my wife a Verizon phone. I agree that their phone selection sucks, but it's nice to be able to call her at home and have her answer without running out into the driveway. I got her the Chocolate, and it will do the job, but there are better choices ou there, specifically from Sprint and T-Mobile.

My friend has had both Sprint and T-Mobile and hasn't had problems in the valley. My work Blackberry is Cingular and its reception is just as spotty as my old phone was. We got them over Verizon because of their international plans/connections, otherwise, I'd have another Verizon phone. I will never buy a Cingular phone/service as long as I live in the valley.

I have T-mobile on one phone and Qwest on another. The Qwest phone for traveling has by far better service than T-mobile. Qwest bounces onto Sprint and Verizon with no additional charges so the coverage area is great imho
