from what i've been told when i asked, yes. you're better off going with an AP. much safer and great results! Conti sells them too now they are Cobb vendors.

Boost controllers are bad for wrxs 04+. Partial throttle full boost issues. Get engine managment. Accessport, UTEC, ect

I gave you that link awhile back Scott, that had all the info you needed concerning this. Go back to it, and go to engine managment. It tells you why a boost controller is dangerous on the 04+ models.

Subaru can't tell if you've flashed your ecu with the AP, so unless you tell them how are they going to know?

yes, but less likely to have a problem with your ECM than a boost controller. Most of the AP maps are designed for specific mods to a specific engine and tranny. they are put together to give performance with relatively safe parameters. even Jerry will tell you, AP is the way to go vs a diy system.

So Conti sells products which void your warrenty? That seems kinda odd. I was definately planning on some cobb products anyway but it just seems like a strange thing for a dealer to do.

What do you have done to your STi? It's really pointless to raise the PSI on the STi without other mods. I say forget the boost controller and go for the AP as well. I did the boost controller thing too, and I wish I would've put the 300 towards engine management instead. If your STi is stock it performs best at the stock psi.

it only restricts coverage of certain repairs if proven to have caused the issue.

why? many good aftermarket parts void parts of warranties and are sold by dealerships. there is a huge market available, so why not tap into it locally as well. Plus, when you do purchase these parts, they let you know it may void certain parts of your warranty should something go wrong. also, by being aware of what a/m products are out there, their service techs will also know how to manage them and which products are worthwhile and do what.

if i do anything or want to do anything, i usually ask one of the conti guys in service if it's actually going to benefit me or just waste our money. having modded the last 3 vehicles I've owned, not including the hubby's, i know i stand the risk of voiding parts of my warranty. What i find holding true at Conti in particular, they don't run away from modded cars, but actually understand them, how to fix them, and at least they are meeting a lot of the demands by those of us who do want some relatively "safe" bolt on mods or parts. Jerry is the one who encouraged me to get an AP for my LGT and i will whole heartedly agree with him that it was worth it.

dont buy the HKS Unit, waste of money, i had one, looks nice and everything, but not worth it. Go with the accesport and full exhaust if you want something totally different then what you have now.

anything installed on the car that is not a Subaru made and approved part can enter your car into a risk catagory. You pay to play. Just because we at Conti sell aftermarket parts like Cobb does not mean we warranty any issues your car may have after the install. Subaru only covers repairs under warranty that are defective or failed due to faults of their own. If your AP is running a rich map or something you bought and installed causes an issue with a stock part and causes the stock part to fail. Its not warranty due to the fact the part probably would not failed on its own. It has nothing to do with us selling the part or not. Its a risk we all take. And no it will not void your warranty. We can not do that. Only Subaru can in the event that something so sever happened to the car like an accident and it was rebuilt, or the car used in off-road use which Subaru found out about. Those cases are not that common.

And no our techs can not tell you have an AP installed unless they are doing a diag scan of the systems and then can tell the ECM is not on a stock set up.
