Are you using a WRX flywheel/clutch or the STI flywheel/clutch?

If you can get the Gruppe-S Excedy clutch/Gruppe-S flywheel combo, you're only looking at $599. I suppose it just depends on how much power you're making.

I too am in need of a clutch very soon. It doesn't seem to have the power it once had and the pedal is very weak. I can't actually feel it slip though, but I can push in and out the clutch pedal and Not feel the engagement (unless I'm over 4k rpm).
So I suspect my days are numbered. I have been driving like this for almost a year. I try to race off the line and I have to rev it higher to accomplish a decent launch and even then it's easier to bog it off the line.
So, sounds like clutch???

Now a question that's actually related to your thread, what new clutch/flywheel combo that doesn't introduce clutch chatter? I am not interested in more noise.

This is the first time I am saying this, and I suspect I will say it many more times....

I had an Exedy 6 puck with the lightweight Exedy fly. Not very streetable. You had to be dead on on all of your shifts, and it was damn near impossible to get a clean launch (keep in mind this was with the long gearing of an RA first gear).

I put in an ACT full face disk and the stock fly, and the difference is night and day. The engagement is awesome, it has held my power (300whp) fine for 1K miles, and it is much easier to drive on the street.

ACT gets my vote for sure. Had them on my Honda and loved it, and now have it on my suby and I love it.

i've been trying to find a final word on this but not having much luck.
If I do a 6spd swap on my wrx, can I use a clutch designed for the 5spd or do I have to use a 6spd clutch? I know I've read that you can use a 6spd clutch in a 5spd with a little modification so how about a 5spd clutch in a 6spd?

You should get the 6-speed stuff, the 6-speed flywheel is far thicker than the 5-speed one. At 285whp you can pretty much run any Exedy or ACT clutch on the market.

Cheers,

Gary
