Default Burn One Down v3.0 - Pre Planning Thread

Would you be willing to pay $10-$15 at the door to eat and drink at the bonfire this year?

Last year we managed to cover all our costs thanks to generous donations from all involved and some that couldn't even attend.

As we get bigger we are getting worried about covering all the expenses again this year.

Thoughts...?

I will probably be forming committees as we get closer to take some of the planning strain off Shannon and I.

Last Year:
DJ and Live Band
Wheel Raffle
Volleyball
Bocce Ball
Food
Friends
Fun
Flip Cup

When:
Around 2pm, Saturday 05-05-07

There is also talk of a round of golf to be played some time on Friday. This is TBD.

Where:
MommaO's house! Silver Spring, MD

Street parking is perfectly legal but please keep two things in mind: people need to be able to get in and out of their driveways, and they <3 their lawns. Please consider carpooling if at all possible and don't park on grass and don't block the roads/driveways and we'll be able to have B4D next year.

What:
Big bonfire in MommaO's back yard. Last year we had absolutely beautiful weather. Let's hope for the same this time!

Nourishments:
Last year we had plenty of BBQ meat and veggies, s'mores, and various refreshments. We'll gladly accept donations for the beer, chips, snacks, condiments, buns, and meat. The rest of the food is pot-luck. That worked pretty well last time.

Food Thread coming when we get closer!
You can paypal donations (for beer, meat, condiments, paper goods, and a porta****ter if we can afford it) to BurnOneDonations@gmail.com. Note: If you use Paypal, be sure to let me know who you are by writing your username in the subject or notes.

Who:
Nabisco members and friends. (OT has shown a huge interest this year.) Hosted by Jard & ShannonO

Check out last year's MAIC thread.

Orders will be taken from now until April 6th, 2007. You can either buy a shirt to be picked up at B3D, or you can have it shipped directly to you.

Pick-up = $10
Shipped = $15

If you do order one to be shipped, it still will not ship until the middle of April after the pre-order period has ended.

Notes:
*We need to have at least 24 pre-orders for ANY shirts to be made.
*If we somehow have 100 or more pre-orders, spazchicken.com will donate $100 + $2 for each shirt over 100 to a charity of our choice.

I'll give you $8.50.

Frankly, I was a little disappointed that I neither got to eat nor give hot meat at last year's event

I think asking for donations is good.
Requiring them is sort of tacky. Reminds me of a highschool kegger.
If you want to throw a party do it and count on those who attend.

This is not much different from a high school kegger, but we had 90-100 adult persons attending last year.

Last year we spent close to $1,000. I think we collected a tiny bit extra which was donated to charity. I don't have $1,000 to lose on a party or even $200 to lose on a party, for that matter.

Your opinion has been noted.

Donations at the door FTW, but allow some of us to donate in advance to make it easier for you to get all the goodies.

I can do it either way....I like the idear of the donations since it allows you to get things up front and you don't have to lay out as much of the initial monies.

Oh, yeah, I plan on actually eating something this year....yeah, eating is good.

Well I'm thinking you can prepay via paypal like last year, but if you show up and haven't given us anything, should you have to pay at the door?
