Default New to subaru, and boy I am sold!

Howdy, Honda guy here. Well I was till I arrived in Japan with my 1st piority of getting a car I could not get in the states.

It paid off in the form of a '97 WRX type RA. $4grand for her and I was happy to shell it out. It has a stock EJ20K, with minimal(hks filter, blitz bov, 3" exhaust and a 6 point cage)mods done. Boost holds strong at 1.2 bar on a cold day on stock wastegate too, I love this car. It don't hurt that we get race gas(appx 101 octane) at the pump as premium. She had 118k kilometers on her (appx 60-70k miles) and ran strong. The RA is a little more raw (read no sound deadening stiff suspension ect) but man for the same reasons I love it even more.

I guess I do have one question, where can I buy a factory service manual, or even a chiltons or equivalent. The owners manual is in Kanji and all the factory manuals here are too. Is there 1 factory manual for all the EJ20(t) motors? Any info would be awesome, And thanks in advance.

You can probably get a member from New Zealand or Australia to hook you up with a factory service manual in english. They got turboed Imprezas back then while we did not. IIRC correctly Japan uses a different octane rating so your 101 octane there is not equivelant to 101 octane here.

Ohh and where the hell are the damn pics?

^^ ah But the 101 is the equivilant. And the "world market" still didn't have this car but I didn't know how well the turbo motors where interchangeable.

My computer and digi are still in the mail from alaska so it could be a day it could be 2 weeks. ASAP I promise.

Thank you sir, I fell in love the first time I saw her!

There are a few things I will change, I got a complete set of STI heads that I will be sending off to JUN for the majic they do. and after I buy the 96 in a few weeks I may go for the full bottom end rebuild. Time will tell, Or more so my wallet will dictate.

Also I have almost all the pink suspention ready to go on, from an sti ra just a few things missing. I already swapped out the cusco strut bar for the 5 pound lighter sti carbon one. junk yards rock! Ghetto fab!
