Default How do you guys keep your mail organized at home?

B/c my current method just isn't working. After about a week, I have a pile on my desk up to the bottom of my monitor. The thing is, a very small percentage is junk mail. It's all personal/business mail that I want for the most part.

Pile on the counter. But I usually weed out junk mail on the walk from the mail box to the trash can.

I sort it each day, toss the junk mail, group together bills and separate from general mail that needs no more action, set bills aside, pile rest up on counter in the corner.....file all away every month or so.

Yeah, junk mail gets tossed right away as I walk to the room. I guess I just need to start filing it daily or something.

We have one, I think it shreds about 10 pages at once...more if you keep pressing forward/reverse. Also shreds credit cards. I usually poor some motor oil on a piece of paper and run it through once every couple of weeks, lubes it up pretty well.

We have a winner! Filing is the best way to go. There are so many nifty organizing accessories out there. A letter rack is perfect for me; bills in one shelf, personal in another and periodicals in the third. You just have to make sure you actually clean out each shelf though!

Junk gets tossed
Everything gets opened
All fliers get tossed
All envelopes get tossed (I pay online)
All bills go into a little coil-shaped paper holder, due dates in order first to last

It not this fancy, but same concept:

exactly what i do, just get rid of the junk right away. That leaves only the important mail to look at when you get around to it.
