Default New 2007 STi Limited Owner

Hey everyone.

I've been a member on this board for a while now (my former username was Kevlar23, but I mostly just lurked ), but I finally got a Suby of my own. I've been drooling over the WRX/STi since they came out, but put off getting anything until I knew where I was going to go to college (didn't want to end up somewhere that I couldn't have a car, just to have to leave a new car at home for months on end). In the mean time, I've done enough reading to know far more about the WRX/STi than even my friend who has owned 2 WRXes (I installed most of the mods on his car, haha).

I ended up at Duke this year, and realized that a car is pretty important/useful up here, so I bought one over Thanksgiving break from Mastro Subaru in Tampa Florida, to bring back up after winter break . I'm now the extremely proud owner of a 2007 STi Limited in Satin White Pearl, #490. I absolutely love the car, but unfortunately was only able to put 250 miles on it in the 2 days before I had to fly back up to school. Next week is finals week, and then I head home on the 17th to drive her again . The last two weeks have been agonizing...

Anyway, here are some shots that my friend took the night before I left. I'll be sure to post more once I'm back home.

Only ~250 miles! Break-in is torture

I'd like to do some mild power modifications after a little while, once I'm used to the power. I'm planning on getting the Accessport v2.0 when it's released for the 07 model. After that, I'll do a bit of suspension work to better fit into the STU autocross class, like springs/struts/sways, and that should keep me happy for some time.

Thanks . You mean in the aesthetic sense, I assume. The car was definitely showing some dirt after 240 miles (look behind the rear wheels ).

Pretty nice, though honestly off the top of my head, I don't remember them well enough to compare them to say, BMW, Audi, or Volvo seats, etc. Remember, I've only driven the car 2 days, haha. I'll take a closer look when I get home.

Did you photoshop the holes in the front bumper where the license plate goes?

Your friend definately has a eye for a good photo. Much props...

Congratz on the car. It seems the 07's are a whole new beast. People are getting insane numbers out of them with mild modding...Looks great too...

Yeah, the license plate holes were PS'd out . I don't get why Subaru pre-drills them

Largest version of the cluster pic I have is 1728 x 1152. That big enough? If not, I do have the original pic in RAW at 3504 x 2336, so it wouldn't be too hard to re-photoshop it at the higher res.

(I'm trying to upload it to imageshack, but it's having a little hissy fit and not uploading. Ill try again later.)

Yeah, my friend is pretty good at photography. He's even got the nice equipment to prove it . He took that pic with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II with an 24-70mm f/2.8L (http://www.rpm-photography.com/)

Because most states require it, and they probably don't want to have to deal with idiots drilling them wrong.

Yeah, but typically dealers drill the holes, at least in my experience.

Very nice... I'm usually not a fan of white cars, but it does look good on the STI Limited! Enjoy and keep it wheels side down...

Nah, lots of bumpers come with holes predrilled.

Some even have a noticable indentation made for the plates. Some don't. Like the 96-99 Outback bumper.

I wish they'd just make covers for the holes so people who don't need the holes could make them look a little nicer.

Yeah, I'm honestly not usually a fan of white cars (in fact, one of the main reasons I passed on taking over my parents' A4 3.0 Quattro was that it was (flat) white). I love the pearl white on the STi though. I think it just makes the lines of the car stand out nicely, whereas everything is kind of lost with the Urban Grey Metallic.

Oh, and yeah, that's what I'm used to on cars, just having a small indentation on the bumper, so if the dealer has to drill holes, they know exactly where to put it. Oh well. I wouldn't mind if I had a black car, and could just get one of those anodized aluminum cover plates, but I don't think a black or silver front plate hole cover would look good on white.

VIR is a hop-skip-jump from Durham.....

Should be broken in by then - the 3rd week of Feb is usually NASA opening weekend.

And if it snows like last year..........
