Default Subiefest2! Saturday, April 7, 2007 - Portland Int'l Raceway

Join us, the editors of Subiesport Magazine for another day of flat-four-fun! Gates open at 8am. Special Express entry for pre-sale ticket holders.

FRIDAY, April 6
------------------
BMW Track Day. We've discussed with the orginizer and they're going to welcome all Subaru owners to participate in this track day. Great test and tune opportunity the day prior to the Subiefest Time Attack. First-come, first-served registration for limited slots. Info will be posted when pre-reg is available.

SATURDAY, April 7
---------------------
The big event!

General Admission: $10 at the gate. $7.50 for advance tickets. (Kids under 12 are free)

- Time Attack (FCO 10am. Open entry, requirements posted soon, $$)
- Car Show
- Autocross in the North Paddock (special 7am entry for Autox, $$)
- 2.5RS vs. STI
- Prize Drawings
- Drag Races Starting at 5pm (weather allowing, $$)

Under consideration:
- Swap Meet Area
- R/C Racing
- Have an idea?

Notes on Portland International Raceway: The PA system also transmits on the AM frequency, to follow the happenings on the road course a bit easier. And for Time Attack competitors this is an excellent course. High speeds, and lots of runoff (though you can still total your car if you do manage to make a big error).

Items with "$$" require extra fee to enter a vehicle.

Sunday, April 8
-----------------
Easter!

We're planning on two classes: Street and Race

Street will require the driver wear a firesuit, helmet, gloves and have a fire extinguisher properly mounted. Plus the car must pass basic inspection and the driver has to have at least one HPDE cert. No race compounds in this class.

Race class will require the same as street, plus it mandates the use of R-Compounds and having a proper roll cage.

Details will be released as we get closer to the event. Such as reg fees, etc.

Especially around the wording of a full roll cage. Does that mean bolt in or weld in? Full cage or part cage such as the autopower one like this:

Some details. We'll have a complete site update to subiefest.com next week:

ALL-SUBARU TUNER SHOOTOUT

Entry fee: $250 per car and driver (no shared cars for this event)

Open to all comers, the Tuner Shootout provides both corporate and private tuners the ability to test their cars in a relatively safe competitive format. There are two classes of competition:

Pro – This is for ‘Hard Core’ Time Attack competitors. Racing tires (R-Compounds, no shaving) are allowed and an SCCA-compliant club racing cage is required (Autopower bolt-in cage, okay. Cusco “street” cage, not allowed). Drivers must wear a fire suit, helmet and gloves that meet or exceed our safety requirements. A fire extinguisher must be mounted safely in the cabin.

Street – For cars without cages and running street tires (DOT R-Compounds not allowed in this class). Driver must wear a fire suit, helmet and gloves that meet or exceed our safety requirements. A fire extinguisher must be mounted safely in the cabin.

Top finishing cars will appear in the wrap-up coverage provided by Subiesport Magazine and the companion DVD produced by Driving Sports Video.

Shootout Schedule
9AM – 10AM: Warm-up
HPDE-Style lapping.

10AM – 12 PM: Qualifying.
Each car is allowed one warm-up lap, one timed lap and one cool-down lap. The top 3 cars from each class will advance to the semi-finals.

2PM – 3PM: Semi Finals.
Each car is allowed one warm-up lap, two timed laps, and one cool-down. Two cars from each class advance to the finals.

4PM: Final.
Each car is allowed one warm-up lap, three timed laps, and one cool-down. Best single lap time in each class wins.

Cars and drivers not “in grid” in time for the 10AM start will forfeit their entry fee and will not be allowed to run in the event.

AUTOCROSS

Entry Fee: Gate fee ($10) plus Autocross fee ($20)

For Subaru fans that don’t want to risk their vehicles on the road course, Subiefest2 will offer an optional Autocross. This will be held in the north paddock. Standard SCCA autocross rules and safety measures apply. All drivers participating in the autocross are also expected to work a corner at some point during the event.

Autocross pass holders can enter the facility starting at 7AM to have early access to the North Paddock (access is closed to cars while the track is “hot”).

CAR SHOW

All Subarus in attendance are encouraged to part in the car show. Several judging classes will separate stock and tuner vehicles. No extra charge to participate in the car show.

The question is, do you think you should run in Pro or Street?

Couple of questions, (I will probably get bashed but I would like to know so its worth it)

1. Drag racing, what requirments, NHRA rules?
2. AND most important, will there be food this time.

Drag racing is handled by the track. I believe they follow NHRA rules.

There was supposed to be food last time. We're looking at doing a buyout to handle our own food... even though I trust that PIR won't make the same mistake as PRI.
