Default Upgrade fuel tank?

My gas tank is dented, and the level senders aren't working anymore. Plus, I need a new fuel pump (again).

would it be possible to pull my 14 or whatever gallon tank and replace it with a 20 gallon tank from a WRX or other car?

It's a 2000 Legacy Sedan.

wrx gas tank is not the same because our legacies (2000+) have a different tank to accomodate the multi-link rear suspension. You should be able to fit any 00+ Legacy, outback, or baja tank. WRX tank si far from 20gal... try 14.8gal!

I stand corrected, WRX capacity is 15.9gal, though I've never ever put fit more than 14.5 in my fiancee's. I think that the 98 legacy tank is the same as on GC imprezas. No matter, though, it won't fit a 2000+ legacy because of the change in rear suspension.

My tank is 15.9 gallons, I don't think that any other BD/BK/BG is different.

If you were closer, I'd offer to buy it from you. My tank needs replacing so bad.

Well, thanks for the replies. I thought my mom's 2003 Outback had a 20 gallon tank, maybe I'm thinking of something else.

You could go with a custom dual 55-gallon drum setup.

Am I the only one wondering why/how your current tank is damaged?

I give the dual drums a hearty +1. Now cut your leg off with this hacksaw.

FYI, I've got a WRX tank in my '97 Legacy GT and as far as I know it's a direct fit. You may need lots of clips and stuff depending on how similar all the emissions equipment is but it at least fits in the BD cars. You may want to start soaking all the bolts for your old tank in PB Blaster now.....

I'm confused. everyone keeps mentioning pre 99 gas tanks, but that doesn't seem to be what he needs!

What did you get out of that swap, or was it just a sweet deal on a matching part?

yeah but the 2000-04 is a different style than pre-00, so im guessing thats why it wouldnt fit the 2000. im definately no expert tho, just guessing seeing as just about nothing fits both pre and post 00's

^ your guess is correct.
I know this first hand, since I have a wrx and an 00 legacy in my garage and have spent extensive time under both.

Well, as to why it was damaged, I don't know.

I sold the BE three days ago, and have a GT Wagon now, 1998.
