Question Check Engine / Cruise Control Flashing?

i was driving my '04 LGT back from my girlfriend's, when all of a sudden i see out of my periph that i have some new lights on. My 'check engine' light came on in the cluster and my 'cruise control button' started flashing, and i couldnt use my cruise control. my car had @65,000 miles and i havent had my 60k service done yet. i had my mechanic friend take a look at it at his dealership, and we checked for codes and i think (forgive me for not fully remembering) all that came up was emmissions (Which can be 1 of a myriad of things.) it has since shut itself off, came back on for a lil while, then shut itself off. i figured i should ask around just to make sure im not doing anything detrimental to my car's health by driving it. its driving fine, so im not fully worried. i put a K&N Drop-In Filter in a couple days before it started doing this. think it could be interrelated? thanks in advance.

i did a search on NASIOC, LGI, and Scooby Mods and couldnt find anything similar to this. anyone else have anything like this happen?

I have heard of this. Did you search all of Nasioc, or just the legacy forums?

I have had that happen once on my 04 STi swapped Leg. I used ECU Explorer and found it to be an emissions code in the tank for the pressure switch. I cleared it with the Access Port and it hasn't returned.

It may be your O2 sensor going bad (though it should have it's own code), or a sensor in the fuel tank (pressure, drain, and one other I believe). I think they disable the cruise so you get those pesky emissions codes looked at. I don't think it is causing any damage to your car, but if it repeats, you may want to have the code pulled to see which sensor is triggering the code and start from there.

for archiving purposes, it turned out to be my Catalytic Converter.
Subaru paid to fix it due to emissions.
