Default SVX to rwd? tranny diagram?

Does anyone know of a way to convert a SVX to RWD? I've heard of people welding the planetary's but i was wondering if there was an easier way? maybe electronically? Also does anyone have a diagram of the trans that they can send me to study before i start disecting it?

With keeping the trans as automatic.....there's really not a way of doing it without the trans killing itself extremely quickly.

The rear extension housing/clutch packs are not designed to handle that much power. You'll nuke them in a heartbeat.

Here's some various scans that may help you to understand the auto trans
Look for the stuff labeled AT.

These three specifically talk about the AWD system for the autos

Alternatively, if you swap in a 5spd, you can weld the center diff, remove the drive pinion shaft or some other combo, and have a RWD car.

I'd also suggest checking out www.subaru-svx.net/forum

Thanks for the good info. And since that is the case...does anyone know of someone who makes a bellhousing adapter to run a SBC tansmission? Or another auto that will work? I can probably make the adapter plate but buying things that i know will work is so much easier. I picked up the car for real cheap with a half busted trans and bent front CV shafts and decided to turn it into a dragster for ****s and giggles. I'd rather keep it an auto cause its gonna be used almost completly on the strip. Any info will help. thanks

Your best resource will probably be the SVX network.

The project sounds like a pretty good project though
