Default ? Regarding Using Subaru Bucks

I've used my Chase Subaru Mastercard to accumulate 2000 Subaru Bucks. You're suppose to be able to use them for anything at any Subaru dealership. But, does anyone have actual experience using them to purchase a car? I just want to be sure that when I throw them down, they don't look at them as anything less than cash. Heck, I'm not even sure that they'll know what they are? Did anyone get blank stares? If you don't have experience with actually using them to make a car purchase, what about other purchases at dealerships? Did they regard the Subaru Bucks as being as good as cash?

As long as they are valid and they are all in your name, the MUST take them. Personally, I wouldnt say a word about them until the LAST moment and drop them on the desk. Shock and Awe gets them everytime.

I see nothing in the terms/conditions saying the SubaruBucks can't be used on car purchases... http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webc...N&msc=Z0003088

With that said, like Unabomber suggests - DO NOT tell them you are going to be paying with Bucks until AFTER you negotiate your final out-the-door (tax, titles, tags) sale price.

I am guessing they won't take it. The bucks suppose to be used for part and service only. Their main business is selling cars. Sometimes they even give out subaru bucks for buying their cars. I see the bucks as a way to promote their parts and service. I don't think you can turn around use the bucks for downpayment for car purchase. If so, how would they make any money out of the deal?

chuckml97, I thing that you've got SubaruBucks confused with something else. The only way to get them is by using a Chase Subaru Mastercard. Here's a link to the website:
http://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?p...ourcecode=64S4
It says "Every purchase you make with your Subaru® MasterCard® from Chase earns you valuable SubaruBucks - rewards you can redeem for parts, service or to buy or lease a brand new Subaru."
So, you're suppose to be able to use them for purchasing a car just like you'd use them for anthing else at the dealership. I know that the dealership will get reinbursed for them. I just worried that they'll balk simply because they may not be familiar with them. This is why I'd like to hear from anyone else who as used them to purchase a car.

I am pretty sure you're wrong. You can use them to buy a brand new Subaru. Never done it myself but they are as good as money.

Most dealerships know about Subaru Bucks. THey are just like cash and the dealer gets reimbursed thru Subaru. I know they use them at our dealer all the time.

Just don't tell them you have them until the end of the deal
