Angry Towing problems...

I am sure there are at least a few of us here (myself included) that have made a parking mistake, and gotten towed. I did last weekend. As a matter of fact, I was alarmed to find out that they didn't use a flatbed! Instead, they said that they used a "dolly", whatever that is. I suspect they were lying...

So has anyone here ever found damage to their drivetrain after being towed? I am concerned, because I am noticing some funny noises coming from around the area of the tranny case, which makes me think center diff. But it could really be coming from the rear diff, it's kinda hard to tell. If you have experienced problems with your 2.5RS after towing, please explain, I would appreciate some input - maybe it will help me to figure out if there is damage, and then to get a lawyer if there is...

dig..
i think a dolly is when they tow your car your nose is up and they use another two wheels in the back so that your wheels are not touching the ground...(not too sure) but if that is the case than i don't think you have anything to worry about..
if your car is towed on two wheels then you should take it to the dealer to have your drivetrain check up. As long as its not a long distance tow you should be fine..
i would still go for a check up anyways...
better safe than sorry.
hope this helps..

Digdug.. Hey man, sorry to hear that.. One of our club member over here had a problem with the towing.. they **** up is car. the center diff was dead after they tow him for parking..
They also said that they use a platform.. but what our friend did, its to take pictures of them towing some other cars without any platform and the wrong way. He also went to see in the pass if they was any complaint about that company, they where some..
So, he have bring everything in court, and the de judge gave him full credit , and the towing company had to pay 3000$ for the replacement of the center diff and all the trouble that occur..

Hope that little story will help you

take care

Very nice. Thanks for the input guys. I was kinda lost on this one, wasn't sure if I should pursue it, but I'm going to. If anybody else has towing experiences to share, please do!

I am thinking about getting a special little sticker made to put next to the 'AWD' emblem saying something to the effect of:

"This is an All-Wheel-Drive equipped vehicle; towing must be done with all 4 wheels off the ground in order to prevent several thousand dollars damage. Improper towing will result in your company being sued in court."

Of course, it would be in fine print so as not to detract from the rest of the car.

How about something like this? Probably needs some text to go along with it. I'll work on adding that this weekend maybe. Anyone know where to get custom decals printed?

Check the board for SpeedFx, I just got through about asking if they can make custom decals. They said yes!
