Default Hello all! I am new here and need some input

Hello!
I am a big fan of STI and planning to get one in near future.
my question is

1. is 06 model going to continue at least for 3 or 4 yrs?

2. any new model coming out soon (with new engine and new body style)?

3. I love 04 front & back, I heard there's not much of difference between these models with the 06 model, do you think I would be better off getting 04? if not, what's the downside of getting 04?

thanks in advance guys!

I hear the 08 wrx and sti are going to be remodeled completely, from the ground up. It'll be a COMPLETELY different car than the 02-07.

The downside of getting an 04 is that it's used, so you won't know if the car's been abused or not. The upside of getting an 04 is that it's used, haha, so it'll be much cheaper than buying new. Optimally, you'd want to buy from someone you know.

hmm so 06 and 04 should be similar I guess.
yeah...I am trying to look for ones that are not abused, but it's almost impossible to find one

downsides of the 04 is that there is better technology out as far as handling in the impreza wrx STI's...vs 05,06,07(torque split/ bias is becoming more front wheel like the evo) the 07's ecu for the engine is tweaked as well, it's new and not THAT much is known about it

04-07 STI's are nearly identical. In 05 the STI lug pattern changed from 5x100 to 5x114. The 5x114 pattern definitely allows for a bigger wheel selection. Also the interior is slightly different and the stock bbs are half an inch wider.

edit

04-05 STI's are close to the same kinda. There is quite a few changes, just never to the engine until 07. In 05 the STI lug pattern changed from 5x100 to 5x114.3 The 5x114.3 pattern definitely allows for a bigger wheel selection. Also the interior is slightly different and the stock bbs are half an inch wider.

Well in Japan all single outlet exhausts are on the RHS. I guarantee you when/ if it comes to the US it will be on the LHS.

on the pic.. Hate the rear, but for some reason love the front. Pictures will always distort the truth though, so lets wait and see it in person.

yep, and that's why the JDM ones will always have the slight advantage...RHS exit takes the bend out so there's virtually no backpressure...
just like WRC

after winning awards on their 2.5 liter engines(efficient and powerfull) recently I doubt subawuu would be down to change the impreza to an H6 soon.

Photos of the new WRX have not been released yet. The car has not been unveiled.
As far as we know, the new car is not a sedan or a coupe, but this again, is not solid.
The above photo is NOT the new WRX.
We should know by spring.

And Subiesport will have the latest when it breaks.

If you prefer the look of the 04 and 05, you should research the changes that were made for 05, they are kind of significant. Search around on here, and check out www.cars101.com.

The wheel hubs were upgraded for 05, but as a result the bolt pattern supports a smaller number of aftermarket wheels.

Then, for 06, the body was changed and a handful of small details were changed. It may be too late, but a month ago there were still plenty of 06 STIs on the lots where I live, available for a song compared to the 07s.

This year will likely be the last model year for the GCB Impreza. Nobody has ANY idea what is coming out next. It could blow the current car away, it could be a two-ton luxury sedan, who knows.

In the japanese "speculation" picture, it looks evoish because they took the evo and photochopped on the front end of the sti and modified it a bit to look new and nice. You can see the evo viii cf wing in the back window. Then they reversed their process for the back of the car photochop.

I was at a dealership getting a test drive of an '07 Sti the other day and the salesman was a huge enthusiast of Subaru's, the Sti's and WRC. He did mention however that they have been informed that the '08 Sti will be built on the Legacy chasis, not the current imprezza wrx chassis. He provided some interesting historical data as well;

Front Facia redesigns every two years - that one is true, especially looking at the differences from 00 - 07 on the imprezza's.

Chasis redesign/change every 8 years. - So it seems feasable that it will be slightly larger next year if it is on the Legacy chasis.

I will be holding out to see what shows up from Subaru and the big car shows in June/July before I make a decision on an '07 or '08 Sti.

Hope this information helps. Dealership was Annapolis Subaru.

uh, as far as I know all the wrc impreza's exhaust exit out the right side

I wasn't sure about the validity of dibblejr's RHS comment as well but didn't want to argue...thanks nhluhr for clearing that up.

Those pics of the 08' I found on some random search and I only heard rumors of the H6. Others have told me they will still keep the 2.5 h4 but will be hatchbacks, so we'll have to wait around some more.
