Default keyless entry problem

I got in my car one day and broke off the button that resets the keyless... then the nut that holds the switch to the plastic fell out... Now that the switch is not being tied down at all it kept hitting my leg so I shoved it into the dash area. A couple of minutes after I did this the locks went crazy locking and unlocking i pulled the wire out and it stoped but the remote doesnt work anymore. I cant set my other remote in cause there is no button.

My questions are:

How have you fixed the prob if this happened to you?

Is there a fuse for keyless?

I know someone will tell me to buy the new button but the dealer wont replace just the button... He wants to replace the whole wireing which is $80 plus labor. I will use the key for that price!

THANKS
Jim

That button is a pretty simple off the shelf item. I'm sure you could find a replacement at RadioShack for less than 5 dollars. Bring it with you and make sure they match the specs.

This used to happen to me like once a week. I finally just put some Locktite on the threads and I've been fine since. Did you loose the nut? I sure you can buy another one!
