James,
Sorry to tell you if it is like it is in NC
You will have to peel that hellish stuff off
your windows. worse than opening a new CD
but the main thing it will peel your rear defrost
strips off the back window if you are not carefull

or....take it to a tint shop, pay to have it tinted legally, and you shouldn't have anything to 'worry' about...all you have to do after that is show the judge you fixed it and all should be 'better' they might have you to pay the court costs.... ~$25

Coming from a victim of tint "profiling" in GA, yes they can... The response was that he could not see in the car to identify how many passengers I had. He said that my tint was 14%, but the guy who did the tint said 28% (still illegal, but not much) so I just got a warning.
10 is real dark, though....

Yes it is legal to pull over a call w/ too dark of tint. Coming from the other side, it is not a good feeling to pull over a car and not have any idea of what is going on inside. Some people do not like the police and could have a gun pointed at them when a police officer comes up to the window.

To add to this....

Their tint law applies to out of state residents as well. I'm a resident of Fl. and got pulled over in Ga. for my tint. The cop elected to give me a seat belt ticket instead as a tint violation is a moving violation and a seat belt ticket isnt.
To me...that in itself doesnt make any sense....

edit---just found this

Georgia
NO / 32% Net / 32% Net / 32% Net / 2005

Note : New law went into effect that can be enforced on out of state vehicles as well as Georgia registered vehicles. Penalty is up to $1000 and/or 12 months in jail as a misdemeanor.

On Jun 8, 2004, the Georgia Surpreme Court threw out GA's tint law since it discriminated against GA residents by not applying to non-residents. Look for the non-resident exemption to be repealed next year which would reinstate the tint law.

This can have ramifications for other states who exempt non-residents from their tint laws. Legislation was sponsored in the 2004 session to remove the non-resident exemption but failed to pass.

Trust me...its true...

When the cop pulled me over he said he didnt agree with the law, but my tint was illegal. He opted for the seat belt ticket instead.
How kind...

I had actually found a different website that showed the real law, but I didnt search much this time. Its out there if you want to find it. The actual law says the same thing.
I think the idea of yelling "discrimination" because a law doesnt apply to out of state residents is ridiculous and borderline stupid......at least in this case anyway....

It was the cop that told me that, so I dont know..........He said the fine would be much higher and a moving violation..

Just repeating what I was told.. I hope never hear it again Even though our current car has what looks like limo tint all the way around and my wifes traveling to Atlanta this week and we're going back next weekend for Cirque Du Soleil.

Welcome to Southern Politics 101. Next weeks class will be on the SC blue laws. Seriously though, I wonder what would happen if I refused to pay a GA fine for tint because it's legal in NC. Isn't this how Russian's get away with everything. The good old it's legal here so deal with it defense.
