Default SI Drive Worth It???

So my original plans were to buy a slightly used 06 GT. But I think I'm sold on the SI drive that is standard in 07's. Does the general concensus on this board believe this to be a wise decision?

From two reviews that I've heard, it's very effective.

link to said reviews, or are they not online? I wouldn't mind some info on the effectiveness...

SI Drive? I'll tell you, I was a skeptic...a big one. "Duh, I can modulate the throttle with my foot, thank you very much."

But, it works.

When I first got the car, I kept it in I (Intelligent). That helped me keep the tach from swinging up fast and high. I indulged a couple of times into S (Sport). And that resulted in me swinging past 4k a couple of times....

....break-in time was 1,000 miles and keep it under 4k. oops. Never got it over 4500 though. So no biggie.

The closer I got to 1,000, I started using S more and more. After 1,000 I started revving up beyond 4k.

After about 1,200, I started using S# (Sport Sharp) here and there. At first, I thought it was dangerous in town. It still is in some locations. It just throws the boost right up front. But, it is still limited to 250hp. Sorry, 243hp (SAE Rating revision).

I do have 1 disappointment with S#....needs more power. It builds so early and gets you moving....it'd be nice with more power to round out the tach.

I think once Cobb cracks the SI Drive fully, and gets the knob to use 3 seperate full-on tuned maps, I think it'll pay off in dividends.

I now keep it in Sport most of the time. If I see MPG not so hot, then I'll go 'I' here and there. I've gone from 15mpg to 22mpg so far since ownership.

All in all, I think its a cool gizmo that may turn into a very useful tuning toy. Rather than have on the fly maps on a seperate device, it'll be installed in your dash already.

I don't remember the other link, but it was from a magazine online.
