Default Ebay Short Shifter

Well, I thought it was too good to be true when I saw this selling on ebay for only $55 shipped. I figured this must be a scam or something. But at that price I decided to take the chance. I'm glad I did because it wound up being the same as the one on Larry and Trey's sites for about half the price. It took about 2 weeks to arrive. It came in a sealed plastic bag with the mystery hardware (circled in red in the picture). I installed the sucker today and it only took 20 minutes even though I had to dremel that bracket so there wouldn't be any rubbing. Afterwards I took her out for a spin and I was amazed at how different she was. The throws were deffinitely shorter and each shift was accompanied by a pleasant snick. I didn't notice any increased effort though. I haven't tried any other short shifters but it seems hard to see how much better anything else could be or to justify that difference in light of being almost double the price!

Please keep us updated on the status of the shifter.

Well, the shifter is working fine but I realized that I should have cut some of that nasty cardboard-like crap because the lever is rubbing against it in 1st/3rd/5th and it's squeeking. What is the point of that stuff anyway? To keep the panel above it from buzzing? It pretty much crumbled apart when I was installing the shifter!

BTW, what do you mean by the status of the shifter?

I just meant stuff like the info you just posted. I wanted to know if any problems arose and if you were still happy with the shifter. I have also seen it on ebay and thought it was too good to be true, so I passed it up.

Thanks-

Robmat

Yup, it's the real deal. Makes me kinda wonder why the vendors here are charging so much.
