Default Questions about '05 legacys

So I'm looking into this fully loaded subaru legacy 2.5i lmd '05, prob is it has 70k miles on it. Now I'm pretty sure that the car has been taken care of well (carfax is your friend), but I'm not sure of what others are experiencing as far as potential problems around and after 70k. Any links or points in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks

It's a Subaru. 70k is nothing. I'd imagine you'd have a few wear items or squeaks, but nothing major.

that's very encouraging. so you'd say "go for it?" I don't think I myself would put too many miles on the car afterward anyway

I bought my 03 with 70k miles on it this summer. Been great so far; I think I've done more to wear out the clutch learning stick than the previous owner did during his time owning it.

what about compared to an '03 legacy L. leather interior as well. probably same basic options, 20k miles and $1000 less. Would I notice a big difference with the '05 in terms of ride and stuff?

New chassis, more power. A newer car is still a newer car. If you can foot the $1000 difference, I would go with the '05, no doubt.

I bought my 03 for a little more than what I originally planned to as well; I was originally looking at BD's and GC Outback Sports, but even for the 8k-9k they were going for, I could get more value out of my '03 I found for $500 more.

05 would be a lot lighter than the 03 as well (comparably equiped)

wouldn't a lighter car be worse in snow and stuff? being heavy would sink in more giving better traction?

Nah, we're talking about a 100-200lb difference. AWD, tire selection, and driver input would be much more important factors.

Nah, all cars are heavy, but the 200lb difference wouldn't make much of a difference. Narrower snow tires are amazing in bad weather, they just cut right through it seems

I've checked kbb.com, but the price for the car seems a little high. any ideas on what they should be asking?

Yes Subies are great cars and they'll go for #00k miles but why would you think about buying a 05 with 70k? There are tons of cars out there, I'm sure if you look you could find the same car with 30-40k less for a little more $$$.

because it's fully loaded and my subaru dealer guy (bro's gf's dad) said it should only go for about $12k. I won't be putting many miles on it myself so to me sounds like a pretty good deal if I can get the right price. I go tomorrow to check out the car in person.

It's out of warranty, keep that in mind.

Also, ask if the air conditioning/stereo display has been replaced. The BL/BP Legacies are having a fair amount of problems with those. A friend of mine in Gainesville has an 05 Legacy 2.5i (well, his mother does actually) and his display has gone out twice. He was almost itching for it to go out a third time so he could scream 'lemon law.'

hm, well I don't think I'm going for it. I found a much cheaper '01 legacy gt limited for like 10k with like 60k miles I think. I don't think the '01s had heated seats, which is . What do you mean by BL/BP though?
