Default WBM '07 venue options - Now in final selection process

2/7 - We have narrowed it down to a handful of sites and will have an official announcement within a few days.

Greetings from WBM corporate towers

The WBM site selection department is busy exploring new site options for 2007. Nashoba (NVSA) has been pretty damn good to us over the years, but we want to explore what options are out there for 2007. We have few strong sites identified, but before we pull the trigger on one, we want to insure we leave no viable opportunity unconsidered.

The new england Subaru community is pretty broad based geographically so we welcome site options we have not considered yet; many of us Boston based members don't get out beyond Rt 128 very often...

On the list so far:
-NVSA
-Mt Wachussett
-Spencer fair grounds
-Devens
-U-Mass Amherst
-Stafford Speedway
-Thompson Speedway
-Gillette stadium
-Big E
-Limerock
-Topsfield FG
-Greenhill Park
-Seeconk
-Northampton Airport
-U-Conn
-Waymouth AFB
-Bayside
-Y2Kthug's back yard

Key site requirements we need to have met include:
1) Location within southern New England:
-No further South than Hartford, Ct
-No further North than the Mass state line
-No further West than Lenox, Ma
-No further East than Boston
2) Approximately 400K square feet (~9 acres) of tarmac or grass parking.
3) Access road to support large flow of cars.
4) Nice festival environment (no mall parking lots)
5) On site food concession or ability to invite outside caterer
6) No union labor constraints
7) Infrastructure to support 1500 cars and over 2000 people
8) Prefer a venue who has hosted a 'car show' before.

If you know of sites that meet the above requirements please feel free to post or PM me.

Please note: this is a fact finding thread not a WBM group planning thread; OT posts will get pulled. Also, posts along the lines of "my uncle has big field in northern Maine we could use, but the grass needs to be cut and he's in Iraq right now" will also be pulled; however well intended.

Once we select a site we will be recruiting for volunteers in a separate thread; probably late Jan or early Feb.

Cheers!

I really like the Foxboro idea . . . i you can grab that big parking lot on the northern side of the stadium by the T station and the shop.

How about Seekonk Speedway?

Other places I can think of:
South Weymouth AFB (might be too far east though)
Devens AFB (already on the list)
Topsfield Fairgrounds (bit messy)

Gillete Stadium is a really good idea, theres ALOT of parking and theres been car related events held their in the past so theres probably a good chance of being able to hold an auto-x maybe? They have held a car test drive type event their in the past I believe and they almost had a drift event but things fell through.

You should make a poll for this...

If Gillette is too much, Seekonk is only about 20 miles south of that.

Uconn, has a really big parking lot. They hosted a car show there last year that i went to and there were a lot of cars there. Its right off of a main road also so its pretty easy access.

Mt.Wachusett is definately a good idea because we can all drive to the top for scenic pictures......it would open up a lot of activities for the whole day....bring in a professional photographer to offer services to shoot peoples cars at the summit or any of the scenic stops along the way up and down!

* it is also more centrally located for ALL of New England because i dont think the Maine,Northern VT, and Norther NH guys are going to want to drive to CT or RI thats just asking a lot of people.....plus they should be able to offer the kitchen to us and the bar area.....the indoor eating in case of bad weather with plenty of room for vendors attending to setup....the new backroom could be good for the informational sessions by Cobb, Ecutek, Rally school etc....

I like Gillette and Mt. Wachusett. Another possibility is Green Hill Park where the Summer Nationals are held.

Why on earth did you ask this to the public. Didn't you know the 18 year olds would chime in with ideas we dismissed months ago? lol

Agreed, but we're looking for mo' options to consider. Hopefully a gem that because we were all intoxicated on Bertucci's pizza we over looked...

Most of what has been noted is already under consideration. This will not be a mob consensus decision I assure you.

Hey where's' that "let have a meet at the top of pats peak" guy when you really need him?

[quote=iamrazor;16404171What about Hansom?[QUOTE]

Wht the hell is that, a combination boy band and air force base...
