Thumbs down Got dinged for no front plate

I was parked downtown this morning and came out to my car with a little Christmas present left by APD, I have one of those metal plate covers that says WRX over the mouting strip where the plate goes, I thought that would deter them from dinging me maybe, nope, $90.00.

Will it say on the ticket if it is a fixit ticket, becuase I would rather through my plate back on realy quick.

Usually most plate violations are fix it tickets... I would assume yours would be one.

put the plate on, go to pd and show someone, pay 25 bucks. Drive down the street, remove plate and go on your merry way.

You'd think with the snow, traffic, and accidents, they'd have better stuff to do today.

Thats the plan, going to call them and find out if it's a fix-it ticket.

I'm guessing he was checking meters becuase there is no way he would have noticed before.

Almost the end of the month. Time to make quota. But yeah when it comes to front plate you go and show them but have to still pay about $25. The only way you get tagged for that violation is if a specified violation unit is around. I only got my front plate ticket when I was in High School. Came back from lunch and a ticket was on my window..

Yeah, probably. I just find it hard to believe that meters would still be that officer's priority today.

According to APD, they don't have a quota. I'm sure it's routine for officers to walk through a foot of snow and check plates while other cars are stranded and stuck in ditches. Hell, you can't see either one of my plates today. I'd better wipe them off before I get a ticket.

(Sorry, just grumbly. Yesterday I saw some Community Service vehicles out guiding traffic and such, and was sort of impressed to see non-APD vehicles helping with the snow situation.)

well it seems my home owners association dues I pay apply for road cleaning once per month... I saw then yesterday morning before all this snow started and have not seen them since. The street doesn't get much traffic but its got well over a foot in it right now. Its worse at the ends. I took the muldoon exit this morning and good thing too because people were stuck at the tudor exit of scenic view.

with this snow you'd think getting it cleared so people who don't remember from last week how to drive can continue safely... instead... ppl still get tickets for front plates not there... cops should be out helping traffic situations instead.

Downtown cops are really just like the meter maids, they just stay in the downtown area...walk around looking for infractions, etc...

i got 2 front plate tickets, i sent a letter both times to the ticketing office, never heard back, about a month ago i get a letter from a collection agency. I am most definetly not going to pay it, thinging about spending the money on an attorney just to despise the state. First was right after i had an accident and my front plate was lost then. DMV had not sent me a replacment yet. Seconed time it was suctioned to the window. Is all it says in the drivers manual is that it must be visible from the front of the vehicle.**** APD

There is a little box towards the bottom that says correctable, so just see if it's checked. If not, you could just contest it and have it fixed by the court date. And just for info, the reason they can just give out these piddly tickets even when there's more important things to do is because there are several officers that aren't on full patrol yet, so they just walk around and hand out tickets. It's all they have to do.

Theres no little box, the ticket looks like a reciept, im going to call them right now and find out if I can fix it.

EDIT: Called APD, I have to call the officer that gave me the ticket to see if he will lower it or drop it if I put my plate back on.

Lol, hell I'd be happy just shoveling snow for 23 bucks an hour. That doesn't bring in any money for the muni though.

Exactly.

PS - even if you do pay this, hopefully they don't have "user error" like they did a while back. I paid a ticket the day after getting it. Check cashed, thought I was fine. A few months later I was on the Muni's delinquent fines website, saying I hadn't paid it. And I wasn't the only one. So, just a heads-up. Their system has/had loopholes.

Yeah they wish they can honestly say that If everyone drove all perfectly, where would they get some extra money from. Or better yet the extra $10 police charge for pulling you over and taking time out of his day. He get's paid by the hour or salary. What's he need an extra $10 for? It's his job aint it?

Most police forces do not have quotas now days.

Atleast back home I know they did away with it..

I use to have some buddies that were cops.... and I don't think they'd have a reason to lie to me about not having a quota.

Honestly, they do not have an actual quota. Many officers don't like doing traffic/writing tickets and just don't do it, unless someone really deserves it. But some guys really do like it, and do it all day long, especially the traffic officers, that's what they are paid to do, that and handle accidents. If those guys weren't writing tickets, they would probably be told to be more active since it is expected. All officers also have "grant time" where the gov't funds overtime for them to do DUI enforcement, seatbelt enforcement, etc. At those times they are expected to stop people & write cites. So more often that not, they aren't actually ignoring important calls just to write you a ticket.

That being said, writing citations brings in ALOT of money for the city/state, so that is always gonna affect things.

My front plate got nicked when I was visiting my uncle who lives near University of Indiana in Bloomington. Someone just unscrewed the bolts and took it. Luckily Indiana doesn't require front plates and I haven't been back home with my car yet.
