Default Differences between '07 2.5i and WRX

I read something suggesting that the 2007 2.5i and WRX suspension and steering are the same. Is this true (spring rates, struts, etc.)? Will a 2.5i handle just as well as a WRX, or does the WRX have a stiffer suspension?

I know the WRX has more power and bigger brakes and wheels, and I think it has a LSD in the rear, but beyond that it's hard to tell from what I can find on the subaru website. If anybody can give me a rundown on the differences between the two models I would appreciate it.

haha, thats kinda true...I'd like to know the difference in suspension bits too. I always see wrx vs sti and what if i turboed my rs threads, first time I've come across a rs vs wrx suspension thread. I would assume that the wrx should have a slightly more aggresive spring rate, and thicker sways.<--assumption

Have you tried a search?

I would imagine that the WRX is beefed up all around more than the 2.5i

Not sure about it though.

I'll be impressed if they started putting better suspension on the WRXs.

The suspension that came on mine (2003) could've been used on a 1986 Oldsmobile, likewise for the brakes.

If you were going at a rate of 90mph and the olds was going 30mph this might be true.

I'm really sick of people knocking on the suspension of the WRX. Bodyroll might be a bit much, but the tires are the real culprit here.

I just traded my 2005 Impreza 2.5L RS for a 2007 WRX Limited...two different animals handling wise.

My new 2007 WRX has a stiffer suspension and wouls easliy out-handle my old 2.5L RS.

suspension in the WRX is stiffer than the 2.5i

wrx has a turbo, 2.5i does not

wrx has more expensive insurance, 2.5i is less

wrx has bigger brakes, bigger wheels

wrx has a different exhaust

etc etc

2 different cars

test drive them both, do some research, choose whatever suits you best

The 2005 RS rear sway bar is a glorified coat hanger @ 13 mm. Change this to 20 mm and add good 17" 45 series rubber and voila...big difference, indeed!

Just don't get a 2.5i with the intention of throwing a turbo on it - very bad idea. If you plan to performance mod your car, i say, get the wrx. Otherwise the 2.5i can be made very nimble.
