Default Is the BPV for an 06 STi the same as an 02 wrx?

I had bought a sway bar from another member on here and he threw in his brand new stock 06 STi BPV in for free. I'm running the stock one on my 02 wrx right now with a p/p vf22 hitting around 19-20 psi. I was wondering if STi bpv would hold boost better or are they the exact same. To me if you push against the spring it feels like the STi is stiffer. I get a little flutter coming from the stock 02 bpv when I shift. I have 88,000 miles on the car and thought that the 02 bpv might be leaking a little but I'm not sure.

IIRC they are exactly the same, I think it says so in the BPV/BOV faq by unabomber.

Yeah it does. I just looked over that thread and that seems to be what is being said. But the part numbers are different on the top of bpv. One ends in 5 and I think the other ends in 6 but other than that the numbers are the same. My stock 02 bpv maybe be just a little weak sine it has 88,000 miles. I think I might crush the top on the old stock bpv and see what that does.

Not to hate, and only for future reference:

Part Number FAQ

Part numbers denote part, part manufacturer, part manufacture date, the company that makes the box the part came in, the hair and eye color of the delivery person that brought the part off the boat from Japan, etc.....

So....you can never rely on part numbers for ANYTHING at ANYTIME EVER, from now until when the earth blows up.

So you can have two identical parts with two different part numbers.

The 'cap' on the bpv is 'crushed' inwards to stiffen up the spring so it holds more boost.

IIRC the parts are the same, but the SOA part numbers for the two are different, if that helps at all.

'02 WRX BPV - 14471AA120
'06 STi BPV - 14471AA143

Just to throw this in the mix:

Is the JDM BPV the only one that's different?

(in case this comes up in a search. )
