Default RIP James Brown

In a file photo James Brown performs during the "United We Stand: What More Can I Give?" benefit concert Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at RFK Stadium in Washington. Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured "Godfather of Soul," whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a founder of rap, funk and disco as well, died early Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, his agent said. He was 73.

Well, he didn't quite sing and he didn't quite speak, and that style of delivery did end up being a huge influence to the first rappers. His music was also heavily sampled and borrowed from. The rock and roll hall of fame states "...funk music in the Seventies and rap music in the Eighties is directly attributable to James Brown." Many rappers have flat out stated that James Brown blueprinted the hip hop sound and shifted the social consciousness.

ummm the first rap album was out in the 70's.... Sugar hill gang Rappersdelight.

and although he might be an insperation i hardly doubt one can find a james brown album in the rap section of your nearest bestbuy.

i cant recall too many, if any, raps with him making a cameo.
