About your CDs:

My gf and I lost our entire CD collection when I was in college because someone broke her window to get into the car and jacked the CD collection. Ever since, whenever we buy a new CD, the first thing we do is make a copy of the CD, then we put the copy in the car and the actual thing sits in our house with the rest of the CD collection.

This way, if the thief does steal the case, they only get burnt copies.

Another solution is to get a better deck that plays iPods or MP3 cds. But, the burnt CD solution worked for me for years till I got my AVIC-Z1.

three words: If and should have-

I kick myself for spending my money on performance stuff rather than a huge subwoofer and deck (which would have I pod capabilities) and I also kick myself for hesitating that one day I went down to the service department w/o leaving with my cd case... Theres a lot of thins I could've done differently here... unfortunately I hit all the bad ways and now I've had a heart attack and was beaten up while helpless and misconstrued - Definatley learned though- I'll never leave a real cd in my car again-

BAILMENT - A legal relationship created when a person gives property to someone else for safekeeping. To create a bailment the other party must knowingly have exclusive control over the property. The receiver must use reasonable care to protect the property.

This word is derived from the French, bailler, to deliver. It is a compendious expression, to signify a contract resulting from delivery. It has been defined to be a delivery of goods on a condition, express or implied, that they shall be restored by the bailee to the bailor, or according to his directions, as soon as the purposes for which they are bailed shall be answered. Or it is a delivery of goods in trust, on a contract either expressed or implied, that the trust shall be duly executed, and the goods redelivered, as soon as the time or use for which they were bailed shall have elapsed or be performed.

The dealership is in violation of this. Pursue with legal action.

Default My two cents worth

Looks like an inside job. I say this because in my 18 years of dealership experience. Every time somebody steals wheels and tires off a car in our lot they leave it sitting on the ground or footstool in one case(used to get over razor wire). Mind you our lot is not completely fenced, you can walk right in. Look at the picture, the car is to high in the air to have been jacked up with a jack from a car. Looks like they used a floor jack. I would ask to see the tool storage area and look for the mates to the jack stands.(we still have some of those old tube style ones here) What thief carries jack stands and a floor jack around? Also I also disagree with mechanics not being into their cars. My dealership has many employees that have hot roded their rides, me included. Now for the bad news, if you read the fine print on your work order it probably states not responsible for lose or theft. But I would talk to the general manager or hunt down the owner and see what they will do for you. Enough of this. I'm sorry for all the wasted time you will spend trying to fix this and hope it all works out in the end. Have the best day you can and good luck!!!

Like I have said many times in the past, STAY AWAY FROM WALKERS. The manager "buba" and the rest of the group are unprofessional, unfair, and cons. They tried to hide door and quarter dent cause by their lotboy, and when I found out they said the quarter and door would fix right up even the the framework was creased. To boot they were not going to give me any money off the new car even with all the damage, so I walked off without buying the car. Buba was a real @x$'L3. I then had to bring the dealer investigator in on it because they weren't going to refund my deposit. I watched the lotboy back into another customers car as I left the lot. Also the speedo on one of the new cars miraculously rolled back from 400 miles back to under 60 overnight, hmm???

note: this is why its good to keep your stock parts handy, when and if you have to leave your car at a shop to get it worked on you can swap out your wheels and stuff so they are not thief magnets, inside job or not.

seriously, it's asinine.

Renton. 4 day weekend. Nobody around. Buncha bored kids/thugs.

I've been working for multiple dealerships for 5+ years now
this can, and occasionally does, happen -

it's not not often but there are low life scumbags out there with nothing better to do.

Jam~
when i went to buy my subaru in oregon, someone stole the 1100 dollar dvd/cd/gps system out of it the night before i arrived...it was an obvious inside job and the cops arrived about 10 min after i did

it does happen

I saw your car jacked up with the door open on Sunday the 24th when I was driving to Southcenter. I told my daughter it looked like it was stripped in the lot. Now how could that be??? I would be inclined to believe an inside job. Any recommendations for an honest dealership??

+11111 for inside job. If not an actual employee of the dealership, at least a tip off to one of their friends that "hey, we got this hot WRX with TC2's and Recaro seats in the lot, and oh by the way, no security guards will be around between these times..."

I'm sorry to hear about your loss--I have those same rims (in silver), and I know that they run $$$; hope your insurance can give you near or full value...

Ok, sorry man those are some painful images to see. I think you should stop at nothing to get your $$$$$ from this dealer. They are responsible whether you signed something authorizing them to put c-4 explosives in your car or just to drive it. (my point being that just because they say they arent responsible doesnt mean they arent) They need to protect your property when in their care and have a responsibility to give it back as they recieved it. I worked in a dealer for 10 plus years and saw this happen to customer cars and lot cars(new escalade had 3 monitors and dvd stolen...it does happen)

Good idea using your insurance to lean on them, they have deep pockets and lawyers that can put the fear of god in the management of the store.

Good luck and sorry about your xmas present
