Default Recommended dealership for warranty work in Baltimore?

What is the recommended dealership for warranty work in Baltimore? I saw Penn in the dealer reviews, but that was just about a sale, no warranty work.
I bought the car in AK when I lived up there and haven’t had to take it to a dealer yet. But I’ve got to get the 06 looked at for this.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1164770

And get this fixed
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1068004

I’ve got the stg 2 map loaded and a TBE, plus some minor suspension work, I don’t know if the dealerships are going to give me any grief over it or not.

Who do you guys recommend, or who is the lesser of two evils if both suck. I'll be basically equal distance from both

Penn Subaru
101 N Point Blvd
Baltimore , MD 21224
410-633-9000

Bel Air Subaru
1506 Bel Air Rd
Bel Air , MD 21014
410-879-1133

Thanks~!

EDIT: LOOKS like a good reason here to avoid Bel at all cost.

Yeah I bought from Penn, but I don't even have enough miles on my ride to have gotten the first oil change yet.

I hear good things about the service department at Russel in route 40 in Catonsville, if you don't mind coming down south a bit. I might start taking her to them but Penn is giving me free dino oil changes for life.

ha, I was just looking at your thread in the dealer reviews. I'm hoping to stay around my area if I can. Looks like there is also

Subaru of Hunt Valley

9800 York Rd
Cockeysville , MD 21030
410-666-7777

They are 20miles or so away. The others are 10ish.

Valley subaru always seems sketchy to me...at least their salespeople are. i know nothing of their service.

i do know that Annapolis is a mod-friendly dealership...might want to try them.

From my personal experience, don't go to Bel Air Subaru. I would suggest Annapolis, Russel or Wilkins in Glen Bernie. As for Hunt Valley, my g/f got decent service work done there a few years ago. Penn Subaru hasn't been around real long and I've never even visited the dealership to know if it 'feels' alright.

good luck

bel air has a general bad vibe in the community. their service has (apparently) gone EXTREMELY downhill in recent years.

ugh. I made an appointment there for the 5th, guess I'll cancel. It was the first place I called. They did sound kind of backwoods and didnt want to give me a time, just show up whenever, which always means show up and wait half the day away.

Yeah I bought my 06 WRX from bel-air, and those guys are terrible. If you go to my.subaru.com, they want to charge me $479 for the 30,000 mile service, which if you look at it, seems EXTREMELY high. As far as Penn and others, I have no idea. I just know that if Bel-Air Subaru and all that were blown off the map, I wouldn't mind it one bit

So far, Bel Air subaru has made sure that the hubby and I are happy, and I can tell you we've had some issues. That said, we've told them... it's XYZ. they came back and said it's ABC. They fixed ABC, but the problem still existed. We took it back, told them you fixed ABC when we told you it was XYZ and it still has an issue. Then they fixed XYZ at no charge. This has happened a couple times, but they were willing to do the work at no charge. Also, they were willing to fix our clutch (change it out) under warranty at 35k miles.

The thing about Valley is that they are a dealership sporting higher end cars i.e. Audi, Porsche. They just don't put the same "priority" on Subarus, and I have found it shows. They refused to fix our clutch at 35k miles which shows me they don't want subaru service, just audi and porsche service.

I went into Bel-Air before I even knew what NASIOC was and before I ever had a Subaru. That being said, it was unquestionably the WORST dealer experience of my life that could not have gone any worse. I not only left disgusted, but swore off Subaru if this any example of their image.

Yea, I'd avoid Bel-Air like the plague. With some help from karma, they'll be out of business by the close of the decade.

the sad thing is they used to be a really good service department...at least when we brought our Toyotas there. i really wonder what happened that they're that bad now.

I agree,,although I've never had a problem at Jones for service, their recent rep has really been bad.
One thing I do know,,In the last year or two there have been some MAJOR changes in the Subaru service dept., obviously not for the good.

Bit of a drive for you maybe but Annapolis has been good to me.

Wilkins Subaru also replaced my strut under warranty, no hassle.

A bit of a drive for you but I beleive that you would enjoy a visit here. We offer free shuttles around Annapolis (lots to do) as well as free internet hookup and a comp w/net in case you didn't bring yours. We have a great coffee/tea/drink machine that makes eleventybillion flavors which I drink throughout the day. Our retail boutique is filled with goodies from Subaru, Cusco, TEIN, and car care like Stoner's & Zymol.

Oh yeah, our service is pretty good too. Nice guys, very fair, always willing to please the customer.

Thanks,
Jackie

I’ll be too busy moving in and such to make the drive, but any more serious work I will definitely support a dealership that supports the forums, thanks for the help. Sounds like a good place to spend my Suby bucks also

Bel Air is out of the question, and bad things said about Valley, looks like Penn is the next choice... If they try to dick me around I'll just make a call to Jackie and make an appointment at Annapolis.

Edit: Talked to Dwight at Penn, seemed like a friendly enough guy, I take it in on the 8th, I'll let you guys know how they are.

I concur with this. I just got my car back from there for service I had them do. They talked me out of a strut replacement job because it simply wasn't needed (I was trying to do preventative maintenance by replacing the struts at 85K b/c in my other vehicles, that is typically when the shocks/struts went, with Subarus, the OEM struts are meant for the lifetime of the car). They saved me a lot of money.

Jackie also rocks. I have been buying parts from her since her Wilkins days, she knows her stuff. The parts department also has some Cusco, Tein, and SPT parts IN STOCK from what I saw there today.

Good dealership with good people. I think its worth the drive for you, but see for yourself.

Ok, so Penn quoted me the lowest price for the 30,000 mile service at $389, and Annapolis quoted me the highest at $525. Also, I might be wrong here, and I am used to older cars, but do manual cars really have transmission fluid? I coulda swore only automatics did

Penn seemed pretty good.
The service guy, Dwight I think, was very friendly and him and the mechanic went through a lot of effort to diagnose the problem. He even went up the road to a gas station to see the problem first hand.

He did mention my mods (Stage 2 plus some suspension stuff) and warned me about my warranty but wasn’t a dick about it. Very friendly, they ordered a new gas tank and will be putting it in next wednesday and I get a loaner.
